next completed project - chicken window
Comments (9)Thanks everyone! I will definately put tighter fencing on it. I have a big stash of chain link I can use, or run covered wire cornerwise through that one. Maybe that would be easier and I have lots of covered wire. Those gals sure do like that sack of shredded paper! If I left it like that they would all use it. Makes me wonder if I should turn my nesting boxes up the other way and fill them with the shredded paper. Maybe they're just bored. The window is made to open from the bottom to the outside with hinges at the top, which will shield the opening from the rain also. The fencing is already on the inside and it ain't acomin' off! (I'm originally from TN.) Marlingardiner: I have second coop just like that one that is full of cardboard for the garden. You're inlaws are welcome to rent that one. It's clean and dry and would actually make a great little guest room but they'd have to walk to the house for the amenities. lol! It's -4F here right now. Nelda, I made the workshop this fall in the front of my large garage. Why not make yourself one in that shed? It started with a huge rough shelf thing that I couldn't even move and went from there. I installed the bench/table in sub zero F temps this winter. It's all just rough stuff from the side of the road or a construction site, but it works for me. I got truckloads of scrap wood from a friend's construction site this summer. I do love free stuff!! I need my truck fixed! I'm not going to get a book and do it myself but thank you for the info Seramas. I don't have time to learn all that and hubby already knows how to do it. I have to let him do something, right? He much prefers to program on the computer when not at work. He sure loves that Pure Basic! I call him a nerd all the time. He's going to fix the truck. I'm going to MAKE him fix the truck! lol! I know! I'll start hauling dirt and loose manure in his little cavalier. He'll fix the truck quick then....See MoreMy Summer-long, Finally Completed Project
Comments (10)First off Lynn...I hope you are okay from that 'tumble' you took. Sounds like you've bruised everything on your body that moves!! Take it slow and give all those parts time to heal. Now, I Just Love ... Love It all Lynn. Your home is just so amazing and you've done wonders with everything both inside and out. Your home has such a distinct style and flare, and it's done so perfectly. As far as your front door, as beautiful as it is..I'm with those who say, it needs color to set if off. I also think it will 'enhance' the details more. The first door color with the muted turquoise seems to be in the right direction. If you do go in that color family...it definitely should be muted. Also, I agree with painting the dining furniture to 'ground it'. I think I would choose a muted tone there as well, so it would not compete with the other colors you already have. It should be a 'backdrop' for anything that surrounds it or that you place on it. I love the garden statue. She is so peaceful looking. Once again...everything looks just lovely...I see you've been quite a busy lady and all that hard work has really paid off. Now all that's needed, is for you to enjoy it!! jane...See Morelooking for EASY quilting projects!
Comments (6)Here's a very easy one! It's a simple 9-patch in graduated colors. I cut them 3.5 x 3.5 to end up with 3" squares and 9" finished blocks. You can set the blocks in dozens of different ways. Use sashing like I did to separate the blocks or do it without sashing for a completely different pattern. This quilt uses the same fabric for the light square and the sashing so the blocks come out looking like hearts. It's my 2nd Quilts of Valor project and I'm sending it off tomorrow to be quilted. I finished piecing the top in 3 evenings - can't get much easier than that! My little helper here is McQueen (blond, with VERY blue eyes) Kate...See MoreOur liquor has a home! Comments (15)Funny, Williamsem. I guess I never really thought about it. We like to entertain and it makes sense to have a nice space to prepare drinks and store everything in one general location so it's ready to go. Currently, I have to go to some effort to retrieve the bottles and glassware, create a place to set it out, yada yada. It's annoying and I always forget something. I figure the easier I make things for myself, the more often I'll feel like entertaining and offering up a glass of wine, martini, cosmo, or whatever else I have the makings for. So it's all about function. Yeah, that's the ticket. Function.. :)...See MoreJilly
