I finished everything, including a last minute pair of socks in the Patton stretch sock yarn (made 2 days before Christmas)! I also made a hand pieced and quilted queen sized quilt for our daughter, and a wall hanging.....several scarves, other socks and MANY dish towels - our daughter and a friend wouldn't consider it Christmas without a pile of these under their tree. I hate to be rushed at the last minute, so always start WAAAAAY ahead of the season! I'm still in 'sock mode' right now, but will probably start thinking about next year before January is out! I love to have things finished and tucked away in my closet, awaiting the next Bday or Christmas!

And I stick to the rule that jewelry is something you can give to my wife on any holiday. It's easier for children to buy some toy and they rejoice, but it's hard for my wife to choose a gift. And so I went to a jewelry store and bought a beautiful ring and the holiday was a success. I gave her a three-carat diamond ring for her birthday. She was over the moon, thanking me as much as she could. She really liked the gift. The next day all her friends knew about it. And as for men it is a bit more difficult to choose a gift for them, it is better to take into account their hobbies or what they do. You can even give power tools if he does such work at home as fix the lock in the door or something in this regard (hang a shelf or ledge).

This thread has been so helpful, thanks all! It led me to look for a dollhouse for my great-niece. In a strange turn of events, though, I found two houses that *I* want … as in, to actually live in. The first house I found has a working elevator, party patio, hot tub, potting shed, and third story telescope room. Party patio with lights: Built-in potting shed … heaven: Hot tub … I’ll get different towels: Thank goodness she checked with Design Dilemma first and didn’t make the fatal decision to put a mirror over the mantel: It really works? Look at that tile! The one above will be my city home. Here’s my country home: Get away from my house, kid! Eld, I've done a number of these.....One was amazing, it was an astronaut done as a mosaic. Lots of little pictures to make the big picture of the astronaut. I currently have this one for sale on Kijiji. New in box. I was given this one one time, when I already had it. So far, no bites. LOL At least she's giving me them with pictures. I'm not interested in doing one that's just en empty crossword grid, or just a bunch of sticks etc. Those would be just frustrating, I have no interest in doing them just because they're super hard. I had one years ago, that I couldn't do.....it didn't have any edges, and they were goldfish. So literally no starting point.
