Yesterday I wasn't feeling the love for a sandwich. I found frozen tamales in the back of the freezer. Win!

That would be a surprise, Linda. !

Cooper, you remind me to look for all the tamales I've been collecting, In the way-past friends would gift us tamales and we would always have those for our Christmas Eve meal. Those days are behind us and so I buy a certain brand when I can find it and freeze.

You folks motivated me to clean my kitchen freezer. I am ashamed at how much was old and tossed out. I did discover that I apparently hoard chicken cutlets. Full and partial bags amount to about 25 lbs of them. And what is with me and tubs of red stuff? Is it chili, spaghetti sauce, soup or tomato sauce? I need to buy labels! Clearly I am not going to remember what it was.

I'm attempting to clean both freezers. I use a food saver and most things are labeled and vacuum ed properly, but occasionally one slips by.

I do enjoy finding a treat! I try to eat something from the freezer once a week.

I go through the freezer regularly because I do not have much space there. Last week I found whole wheat flour and extra yeast, and so I took the flour off my grocery list. I won't buy more flour until this is used up. I'll take the extra yeast back to L.A., as I need it there, and so I was happy to find it.

I was looking for frozen corn, but as it turned out, we did not have any.

I've been experimenting with dehydrated vegetables lately, but some of them I do not particularly like - such as dried broccoli - it never has the right texture when rehydrated.

I will say that I am very good at labeling things that go into Foodsaver bags, and I always put a date on them as well.

I have a food saver. And a pen. No excuses in the New Year. I will do it right. I have a whole pig coming soon so that ought to keep me busy there. It's a local organic pig so it will not make me ill.

I keep masking tape and a sharpie on the counter most of the time, and am good about labelling, but once in awhile the tape comes off!

We just defrosted the big freezer after missing a year. At the beginning of the pandemic, I cooked a lot and loaded up the freezer, but haven't been using up a lot. I did actually find some two servings containers of lasagna that I didn't remember. They must have been overflow, because they'd usually go in the kitchen freezer. Most was as expected, but the lasagna needs eating.

ETA: Thanks for the reminder. I brought in a block of meat lasagna and one of pumpkin lasagna.
