Prior to Appointment with Neurologist, A Question

last modified: 4 years ago

DH (83) will see a neurologist tomorrow. He's seen him before, to have a diagnosis of, "It's not Restless Leg, it's Akathesia, drug induced." (Attributed to years-ago Prozac and now Abilify -- minimal and sub-minimal doses for anxiety.)

Does anyone else have knee pain and muscle contractions around the knee *only at night*?

DH had this happen in the past when stopping his tiny dose of 1MG Abilify; going back on it would put an end to this. Now, though, he's been back on the 1MG of Abilify for weeks, and the pain continues to wake him once or twice a night, every night. This has been going on for months. It's never during the day, so it doesn't seem likely to be just the onset of arthritis coincidental with the alteration in mood medication.

You know, even if you know your problem IS Restless Leg, please tell me if anything helps!

Adding: I should say that DH was born with his left leg not quite an inch shorter than the right one. This was never corrected with 'lifts' in a shoe or anything, and hasn't been a problem for him in the past. These pains are in the right knee.
