DHs procedure today - good news (sorta)
Comments (23)I'm glad the big ones have been ruled out! I'm going to second Dee can's suggestion of celiac. His symptoms are very similar to my dad's when he found out he had it, esp the part about what happens after he eats. I hope they figure it out soon, it's frustrating when we don't know what is causing pain....See MoreMessage/appointments/to-do list/mail center
Comments (19)My central calendar is my dayplanner. It's "central location" is my purse, but I'll pull it out and leave it on the kitchen counter on weekends or home and I'm working with it...but it goes in my purse no matter what. I have a small spot at my counter near back doo where I keep pencil can and misc office-supply stuff...pending bill pile, etc. It's not a lot of stuff either. Is this a calendar used by you...for you & keep you going with family things, or does your husband refer to it, add to it, and/or have any responsibilities to keep it up? I tried a central calendar when I was married...at H's request...but his input to the calendar ended up minimal and not worth the effort to make it public and useful for the masses. My calendar was all me & my responsibilities. It was harder to manage more than me when I was the only one doing the work on it. I'm a big dayplanner user, and by adding pockets & tabs, the lists, info, my stuff is always there, and nowhere else. As for the mail, I go thru right away. Catalogs & mags get put in the living room where I would sit to read them. Bills go in my pending bill stack (in the kitchen office/dayplanner corner), junk is just out right there on the spot, and anything to keep or address later is inserted into my dayplanner or put in the files. That's how I do it. I do not have a home office anymore...just the dayplanner and few necessary supplies in the kitchen corner. My laptop can go in whatever room I want. My file cabs/archives are parked in the library. That's all I do. I painted the inside of several kitchen cabs with chalkboard paint for lists and to-do things. It was fun for a couple months...but a chalkboard cabinet is not a portable paper list I can throw in my purse/dayplanner and run out the door. I was finding myself re-writing lists because I had to transfer them to paper to take to the store. Easier for me to list quick in the dayplanner and go...and...the lists are always with me in my purse no matter where I am. Good for impromptu shopping when I'm at a particular store and KNOW I had a list going already for things already. Gayle...See MoreMy hairdresser called - yippee - I have an appointment!
Comments (50)I finally got up the nerve to go this week to the spa. I originally set up an appointment for a mani/pedi one day and waxing the next day. But the more I thought about it, the more I didn’t want that much exposure. All of my appointments are scheduled to be the first of the day. The protocols seems to be the same as most of you have experienced: stay in the car, everyone wearing masks, etc. The spa usually has flavored water and a dish of nuts and/or crackers. They’ve stopped that. They also ask that you leave as much as possible in the car. Bring in no food or drinks. They are scheduling a 15 minute buffer between clients to allow time for adequate sanitizing. I cancelled the mani/pedi and just got an acrylic dip on a nail that splits. The manicurist had certain tools that could be sterilized. The buffers could not be sterilized so she would have to just throw them away. I suggested that she give those to me and I would save them and she could use them on me the next time. Also, the acrylic dip is a natural color that she uses only for me. The waxing was interesting. Legs were done as normal but with both of us wearing masks. Face was interesting. The esthetician would pull my mask up or down depending on where she was working. Week after next, I get a hair cut. 👏 I’m letting the color grow off, so I’m going to get a very short pixie cut. I have an appointment for a cut only, no blow dry, no color. The stylist and I will discuss what, if any, coloring needs to be done to make the transition from medium warm brown to whatever color my hair is going to be when it isn’t colored. I’m having a hard time telling. Apparently, my hair grows very slowly. My last cut was Feb 26 and I have less than an inch of roots. Next on my list is getting a massage. The massage therapist I go to has always seemed very conscientious about cleanliness, so I don’t expect that her standards have fallen. But it is a solid hour of being in a small room with someone, even though we will both be wearing masks. It is going to take me a while to get okay with that....See MoreScheduling doctors' and dentist appointments
Comments (52)Well, I went to my dental appointment yesterday, that I had scheduled back in December. Here’s how it went down: 3 weeks ago, they called to confirm my appointment, we assured each other we had not had symptoms of, been diagnosed with, or been in contact with someone diagnosed, with Covid. They told me all their new procedures. 2 days before, they sent me an electronic confirmation and form to fill out about my Covid status like they did 3 weeks ago. 1 day before, because I hadn’t really read the email and filled out the form, they called to remind me and to get my credit card number to pay in advance, if I wanted. I did, and I filled out the form. 6 hours before, they sent me the digital form again to fill out. 0 hour, per their instructions, I entered the empty waiting room not a moment before or after my scheduled time. The hygienist was waiting, masked. In the chair, I rinsed 30 seconds with a hydrogen peroxide and water solution, spit into a cup that was promptly disposed of in hazardous waste. Didn’t spit into the little chair-side sink. I took off my glasses (as I usually do) and she gave me goggles. She took my temperature. The hygienist put on her face shield. She also wore glasses, and needed flip-up goggles with “loupes” on them for close work. Poor thing, there were at least 5 layers between her eyes and mine. She positioned a “pressure machine” that I guess worked like a shop vac (sounded like one) to suck up any droplets. The instruments were...I can’t remember, they told me three weeks ago, but some were disposable and some went through an intense process with days between uses. The rest of the appointment went as normal. When I left, the receptionist slipped me my receipt under the plexiglass shield at the desk. I felt comfortable. One thing I noticed: no magazines in the waiting room, since no one will be waiting in there for a good while. This will probably kill the print magazine industry, which was already struggling, and which was recently hurting from the drop in advertising. And for those of us who still get print magazines, where will we take them when we finish with them? I often left a magazine behind when I would go to an appointment....See MoreUser
