You should decide what product and sheen you're using on the cabinets first. Because that will likely dictate color options. If the product chosen can color match to major brands, you need to get a sample because cabinet specific coatings aren't the same as paint for walls and trim. You'll get a version of Simply White but not necessarily Benjamin Moore's Simply White.

@lori walls are flat and I’m planning cabinets to be satin. Not sure on the exact product so I’ll look into that.

I was pretty set on doing cabinets BM cloud white but came across many of your posts and comments about chroma for white colors. Cloud white and simply white do not have that .20ish difference in chrome which had me worried.

I recently painted a vestibule's walls in satin. The eggsehell wasn't tough enough . the satin has enough more toughness to withstand the dings and bumps against the walls [small entry vestibule-lots of traffic] yet the sheen issue was avoided at the satin level. Cabinets in kitchens get a lot of wear and tear. Walls in kitchens do take some wear as well. I've washed my kitchen walls periodically over the years as needed. Flat paint would not be good on kitchen walls in my opinion...it doesn't handle cleanup and wiping and washing all that well.....get at minimum an eggshell high quality wear and tear paint for walls..... and Semi gloss cabinet paint would be preferable on cabinets.

You're right they don't. They're very similar overall.

Simply White is more neutral because it has a smidge less Chroma. And it's also a tiny bit closer to the Green-Yellow hue family. It's that pocket of the color wheel - the GY region - where we find colors that read as being most neutral, the least discernible hue bias.

Cloud White is slightly darker and more in the middle of the Yellow hue family. A smidge more Chroma and darker means it's more of a color when compared directly to Simply White.

Bottom line, I think it would be difficult to distinguish that these are two different colors once installed.

So it comes down to pretty and function. Which one looks the prettiest to you and which one has the better hide, takes fewer coats; a lot depends on product but my guess is Cloud White will be the one with better hide.

I think I’ve decided just to do simply white on walls, trim and cabinets. Just in different sheens. I hope that’s the best choice!
