First fixture is hung (the picture you requested). The chandelier will be much harder, as I'm not sure the last owners wired the "outlet" correctly. Getting there. If you remember, I bought these two or three years before I'm going to move, so I could enjoy them, not just make the house more appealing to buyers. We just didn't know how much we would like it, until we flipped the switch. Apparently, we've never had a nice light fixture because we just stood there in awe. In bright daylight. Can't imagine what it'll be like in the dark. Couple of happy campers.

Yes, my DH & I are fine! Thank YOU! Last year we were evacuated for the Waldo Canyon fire....then the wind changed direction and we were out of danger. I work up north where the fire is. Yesterday.....I work on the 3rd floor.....there was so much smoke billowing past the wall of windows I couldn't see the parked cars below me. The 6am crew arrived to find the air intake vents had been left open overnight and the smoke had filled the building!!!!! By the time I got there it was cleared out. I'm taking a 4 day weekend......without pay just to get away from the smoke......which gives me cold and flu like symptoms. :0) Oh well...... Thanks for asking.....it's a terrible situation!

Hi Iva! I haven't been on here in a few days and I was just reading through some threads and came across this. I've been feeling kind of rotten. I'm having a lot of palpitations, and my heart rate has been going up with the least bit of exertion. When I walk up a flight of stairs, my pulse will go up to 120 or 130 and I feel like I have to sit down. Now, I'm not in great shape to begin with, but that's just ridiculous! I never felt anything like this with my other 2 pregnancies. I did see my doctor today and I went for lab work (another blood count to see what's up with my white blood cells, another ECG and a thyroid test). I see him again on Tuesday, so he should have the results by then. Thank you for thinking about me! I will definitely update on Tuesday.

Stories: The thing I notice most when looking at that photo, the stairs are new. The old stairs were uneven. Some stairs were 6", some 11". Old rebar stuck out of some of the railroad ties. I once heard on the local news a man had fallen, impaled his shoulder on the incline and was waiting to be rescued. The med techs took 2.5 hours to get to him. I was once stopped and asked about the incline. I started babbling about the GREAT wild life.....you could even see bears. The woman got out of the car, her husband was driving and walked into a nearby Subway. Her husband explained she was deathly afraid of bears. They had driven hours to get here, now she refused to go. Ooops! He asked for directions to a nearby trail they could run instead. I said, "that trail is loaded with bears!" He smiled, I won't tell her. ☺ I once saw a guy pour red Koolaid all over his head and face while hiking the incline. There's no shade. Kerma, a personal trainer, called me, said lets do the incline. She then admitted she'd run 5k, swam a dozen laps, taken a nap....and was ready to go. It was the only time I could keep up with her. ☺

That's really very pretty. I'll be the first to say I am awful at picking out light fixtures, and usually ignore them for as long as I can. More of an....know what I like when I see it but I don't know how to shop for or explain what I want. I really dislike the pendant over breakfast table in this house, its industrial looking + the wrong length for my height. I don't mean bumping my head, but its right in my eyes as I sit down to eat. I've been pretending I don't see it for 9 years ;)

I'm terrible at it too. It's taken me 6 years to pick out light fixtures for this house. I figure I better do it if I'm going to enjoy it for another couple of years.

Despise the chandelier in the dining room, but painted it, and made it tolerable. It's way too big for the space. It was brass. Every other fixture of my house is silver or crystal.

May I ask where you got that? I have a couple of bedrooms that have really poor lighting. Something like that would really add a lot of sparkle and light it up.
