A crop you could tend to once a week?
Comments (22)Let's up the ante shall we? Although the season makes a big difference (Obviously, if the two weeks are in February, any plant will do. Two weeks in May or August? That is tougher.), there are many plants that can just keep going on their own, thank goodness. For lettuce, if you are taking leaves often, you need to keep doing that. But garlic is strictly a "fire and forget" garden weapon. Considering pest problems, water requirements, and plant staking/etc., you could probably plant an absentee garden of garlic, sweet potatoes, and potatoes. Just plant and let it go until harvest. That practice is actually not uncommon where I live. Vast fields of sweet potatoes are grown in remote areas and are generally left alone. Here are some plants and how long I could just totally ignore them. Two weeks potatoes, broccoli, radishes, Three weeks carrots, daikon, chard??, turnips, A month soybeans Ignore until harvest Jerusalem artichokes, sweet potatoes, garlic, onions, asparagus, strawberries...See Morewhere to shop online for hard to find ingredients
Comments (11)I have not bought from the Indonesia Food Mart web site - only from my local Indonesian market. I did think it was interesting that the web site warns against eating raw kemiri. And they seem to be inexpensive enough to be worth trying, although I think you could substitute Macadamia nuts in your recipe. The market I go to is Simpang Asia in Palms/West L.A., but they do not sell on the internet. Lars...See MoreRecipes with Few Ingredients - Week 1 January 2013
Comments (44)This is a recipe for the easiest most scrumptious pie you will ever make. Banana Caramel Pie 1 can sweetened condensed milk 1 tub of Cool Whip 2 bananas (this can be optional if you don't care for bananas) 1 graham cracker shell Cover unopened can of condensed milk with water in a large pot. Boil continuously for 3 hrs always completely covered with water. Remove and let cool. Line crust with bananas, cover bananas with caramel (cooked sweetened condensed milk), then cover with Cool Whip and refrigerate. I have also made this pie using a regular pie crust, baked then cooled, add ingredients cover with whipped egg white meringue and bake until meringue is browned. I prefer this way as it is less rich but doesn't travel as well....See Morecan you please help me find a sink? weeks of frustration...
Comments (20)We pretty much love everthing about the sink. Aside from the looks which we obviously liked and the fact that no one we know has one, it has been pretty much maintenace free. There are certain foods which strip the color off and leave shiny bright copper spots. But within a day the sink starts to patina(darken) and it looks seamless again. And we've poured plenty of hot and boiling water down the drain and it's never been an issue. Copper is also naturally anti-bacterial so that's another added bonus. We also heard some of the warnings about the copper from Mexico. I will say ours is stoutly made and it weighed a ton. I went with one of the ebay sellers who had been around for awhile and looked through alot of feedback. That's about all I can think of to tell you. If you want I have pics of what it looked like before it was used and how it looks now after a year of use with no more upkeep other than soap and water....See MoreLars
