I'd like to know as well. I've got two Early Girl cuttings, from my spring plants, that I plan to put out by the end of next week. I've also got a Sweet 100 cutting to put out, but I don't expect much from that one. The zucchini I put out is growing nicely under the shade cloth. It doesn't seem to take the heat as well as the butternuts and cantaloupe. I've got a straightneck early yellow seedling to put out now. Just started some cucumbers seeds inside the garage. I've had excellent results starting all of my melon and squashes inside the garage. Easier for me to keep everything moist until germination. Will be doing my broccoli and lettuces this way, if I even do lettuce. I'm running out of room as it is. Wade

Odd that you should say"replanted" okra because once it matures it should bear till frost If you are say ing the deer ate the young plants then next time sprinkle them with black pepper. That should help.

yep, sweet potatoes! Yardlong beans like the heat Southern peas/beans like cow peas, crowder peas, black eye peas. Tropical stuff this time of year New Zealand Spinach seems to like the heat Basil Most of my melons, squash, cucumbers, pumpkins, gourds etc have all been in for a while now so I'm not sure if I would plant more of those now as they usually don't do so well for me during the rainy season. But you could always try some summer squash in a location that will get some light midday-afternoon shade and still probably get a harvest before it gets way too hot since summer squash and zucchini are quick crops.

tom, you growing those onions and radishes in containers or in the ground? Onions for sure go in the ground, they take up too much real estate to put in containers so they'll go in the raised boxes they were in last year, between the bananas. The radishes will probably go on the edge of the onion boxes just like last year so I can grow the lettuces in my window box planters on the upper deck. I'd like to plant onion bulbs but have not seen them anywhere. Any idea where to find them? You should start seeing onion sets (60) at the Big Box stores any time now.... Tom, did you say this is a good time to plant zucchinis? And do they climb or trail? Yes, you can grow them now. The bush types trail. We've been experimenting with the English vining marrows since last fall, hard to find seeds but Silvia did well this past year and has been able to share seeds with those who have ask for them. Since it went so well with the Table Dainty, and we can no longer get seed from England, I though I'd better get some of the Trailing Green Marrow in case the source for it dried up. I have enough seeds of it right now to send anyone who wants to try it six seeds each. These are vining squash, just as Silvia's picture shows.... I'll post pictures later if my humidity and morning dew don't do these plants in with DM/PM. I currently have three of each started on my veggie arbor. hey, i rather liked the cuccuzi!
