Our daughter just moved here and beginning her interest in growing food since our garden is growing great. She’s been picking tomatoes like crazy:)!! So, she wanted these barrels from a shop in Dayton, OR. A lot of planters are on clearance right now at many nursery locations. We got lucky and only paid $27 each for these cut planters from old wine barrels. She’s planted broccoli and lettuce. We are all excited to see how it all grows.

I have a south facing deck on a property that is surrounded by tall cedars and fir trees. Although I grow a large veggie garden in the summer no sun reaches it in the winter. I tried a fall planting of lettuce in late August last year but noticed no more growth by early september due to lack of sun so transferred them all to an oblong planter on my deck and added a few more seeds such as arugula. I have small covers over wire frames that I purchased when I began my garden and they fit perfectly over the planter. I had lettuce until January when snow and a long cold spell set in. I live in the Pacific Northwest

I would love to plant some beets and carrots in my garden. I'm also in the PNW, but I've got a spot that isn't shaded by trees at all in the middle of the backyard. Hoping to set up a vegetable garden there...maybe next summer!
