Oh, the problem TV's present with decorating, and now with all their accompanying electronics it is even more difficult. Your home is very handsome and I understand that you would not want your TV as a focal point. les917 gives a good option. I'll propose another but construction will be involved. Looking at your room, no other option comes to mind. How far does your fireplace project into your room? Would you consider building a false wall with an inset into which your TV could be placed? Of course you would still need a cabinet below to contain all the electronics. But, if your TV were to be set into a niche, then the option to disguise it behind a pull-down art scene or shutters is available. You probably would need about 8" to accomplish this. Hopefully another will offer a better suggestion. Good luck in your new home.

Have you considered no mantel at all? If you were to remove the raised hearth and the current mantel, then do your stacked stone all the way to the floor, it would give it a cleaner, more modern look. Because I couldn't sleep and decided to take the opportunity to think more about your fireplace . . . Many of these asymmetrical fireplaces have a niche to the side for logs. I know you can't manufacture such depth, but the addition of the stone will give you a little depth, and you could play with that. Assuming you do away with the raised hearth, you could even cover a portion of the existing brick on the left with drywall or panelling of some kind so that the fireplace itself would be symmetrical.

I'd create two separate areas, yes one, smaller one, next to the windows-two armchairs with a table between them. probably would go with something legged..more visually light, as to obscure windows the less..or give an impression I'm obscuring them the less:) another, bigger one, for TV watching..a sofa..an angled chair on the right much like you have now, but looking smaller..I might consider doing smth different since several chairs in the room..maybe a rocking chair? I might also go for an ottoman instead of a coffee table-can serve as additional seating if needed. I might also find a garden stool as one of the side tables-again, opportunity for additional sitting, if a lot people use a room at once. Round shapes will also break the lines of all the rectangular furniture, so I'd definitely take it into account when shopping. I also might do something patterned to add interest..say two armchairs, or an ottoman, or a chair in bigger sitting area.. Rugs would help to delineate different zones, so another idea to consider. Pretty room. Once you get your balance right-full of potential to be very cozy.
