Off center fireplace - need help with mantel placement

We are finally starting a renovation of the family room in our new home. The room is 15' x 23' and the fireplace wall is just under 14' long. We are having wood look tile flooring done and the current brick fireplace will be covered with stacked stone. We will be adding a reclaimed beam rustic 8" x 8" mantel over the fireplace, either 7 or 8 ft long. My husband fears that a mantel to cover the full 14 ft will be cost prohibitive, and he is also considering mounting a TV to the left side of the stone wall.

At the suggestion of the mantel store, we covered with wall with painters tape to mark off a 7ft and an 8ft mantel, with the first lines at 7ft, - 3 1/2 ft off the center on each side. We are leaning towards an 8ft mantel with 4 1/2ft on the left, 3 1/2ft on the right. Will that look bad if we have the mantel a foot longer on one side than the other? My husband suggested that we have something, an antique bellows or something like that hanging from the mantel on the longer side.

Current room with PO's mantel.
