If the white pen she uses doesn't work (sometimes ink and glue don't mix) maybe she could use some thin masking tape to apply above each photo and write on the tape?

Thanks for responding, vgkg. I suggested alternatives like that but she rejected them.

Another way (probably better than tape) would be to use her or your pc to type up the annotates for the photos, print them out, and cut into pieces to post in the photo book. That way she can use an easy to read font which pleases her.

Perhaps plain white mailing labels? Or, if the photos stick well to the page, perhaps just a slip of paper with the writing on it would also.

I appreciate the responses. I would have to write an essay to explain what's going on here. You and I know there are lots of ways to accomplish this, but handwriting on the black paper is what she wants.

I'm going to kick this can down the road, hoping she will forget about it. She put together this album a couple years ago and I thought it was done. I don't know why she has resurrected that project now.

I'd suggest getting black construction paper, she can write on that, cut it out and place it on the pages...

If it was just heavy black paper, yes she could do that, but since it's sticky, I don't think it will work. I know it's not what she wants, but she would be better starting over in a good scrap book. The sticky will eventually kill the photos. And if she decides to go this route, she may need to put the book in the freezer for at least a few hours to get the glue to release the photos. I have 2-3 old scrapbooks my grandma did that I need to do that with, just as soon as DH decides what he's going to do with the 15 gallons of pears he peeled, cut and froze to make wine with! Right now I can't even find the meat I have in the freezer.
