The bonnie, bonnie roses of October
Comments (11)Thank you John. My friend Paul of Lake Michigan in Wisconsin grows SG. I confess to sending him a bouquet for his BD and it was the scent that sold the rose. Judy, Stile 800 is actually the name of this Barni rose that I got from Roses Unlimited. It did not rebloom well until recently when I increased its helping of composted mulch and manure. The stature is about 2 and a half feet, the blooms are wonderful but the plant is not large. The second one is Spiced Coffee, by McGredy and for a plant that is grown in too much shade it blooms often and beautifully, It is four feet tall and about 2 and a half feet wide, fragrant and elegant. All my roses are grown without spray, la...See MoreA celebration of old friends in Vintage Dirt!
Comments (16)Well, so you want photos? Here is Paula in the foreground, digging away - And Gene - Gregg is to far right - The day was fabulous - even the sheep on the hill seemed to be enjoying it - Another view from the deck Luanne was wrong - a few roses were in bloom - including the fabulous Noella Nabonnand on the allee of roses She was probably too busy digging to see any roses. We Sacramentans definitely want to get back there in May, when the place is going to be full of flowers. Anita...See MoreUPDATE: Blooming Friends-October Swap-Bulbs! - # 3!
Comments (23)remy, you did a wonderful job organizing, assigning and keeping track of us. congratulations on your (first) swap. now you are a seasoned pro. we certainly do have a great and generous group here, that's for certain. it will be nice to welcome jeanne/sandlapper. i have been in swaps with her in the past. she also runs an animal service...that has to say something about her, right? welcome aboard jeanne. speaking of animals, thought i'd bring you up-to-date on mine. they are still weird! lol. i'm not going to give up, ever...they don't deserve it. there's more changes in them, as a matter of fact, lucy had her nails cut on monday (finally). i was starting to get scared they were going to grow into her pads and hurt her, but they got done. today, i tried to walk her. you really have to see it to believe what goes on, but i'll deal with it. you guys all gave me such support that i am truly thanksful for. i cut down the morning glory vines today. my goodness, were these flowers just stunning. i look forward to growing them next year. i just am so confused where the seeds are, been waiting for them but haven't found them yet. at least i have some leftover seeds for next season. november already....SIGH!!!!!!!!!! onward to debby's swap. be well, maryanne...See MoreFriends of Vintage Roses -- Sale begins June 27, 2020!
Comments (7)I received an email last night and I was all too successful given that there is no room at the inn. I'm glad at least that I'm addicted to old roses and not say antique Persian carpets...... Anyone else place an order? Would be fun to have a social-distanced meetup at the Garden when we go to collect the rose babies....See MoreRosefolly
