Am I the only one going to a restaurant on Thanksgiving?
Comments (46)Colleen as you know Meredith is in Australia and I must say loving every moment! It's true she missed our Canadian Thanksgiving and Halloween too but she has learned so much about the diversity of our world. Australia has been such a welcoming country to our young people, an experience she will never forget. My worse fear is that she won't come home! She is a wee bit uptight about not having snow and a Christmas tree for Christmas but she promises me that she'll be over it in a flash as she lays on the beach with all her new found friends! PS: I make your chocolate cake too, it's the best!...See MoreAnyone dressing up for Halloween?
Comments (12)Can't wait to see those pics. We have a Halloween Hoot day at golf (my least favorite day). When I told my friend who was the tournament director that I might not be able to come because I had to stay home and finish my book for book club, she had a fit. So I went. This year was the Monster Ball. You didn't really have to get dressed up, just wear black and as she put it, be a little creative with the black. I wore a long black skirt over my black golf skirt, fancy black socks, heels and a black shirt with a vampire on the front. Spider web earrings and a feathered mask to complete the outfit. She really didn't know who I was because I really don't dress up for halloween. She was shocked! I was stripping it off on the way to our Tee box....See MoreHalloween Costumes for Grown Up couple
Comments (28)A few years ago a friend of mine and her husband had a very unique couples costume. He wore a black and white stripes shirt and black pants as a football ref and she wore a yellow sheet. He would blow his whistle and she would fling herself to the ground. She of course was his yellow flag on the play. It was hilarious. She was very dramatic on the flinging herself. I too saw someone go as dinner for 2, he had a cardboard "table" around his waist, table cloth, table set with dishes for 2 and wine glasses. He wore the waiters outfit and was serving a bottle of wine. He won the contest. He really did an excellent job on the whole setup. Another cute one I saw a couple do, husband dressed as a hobo or homeless person and the wife wore a big brown cardboard box. His refrigerator box home....See MoreHalloween Hush Puppies
Comments (20)As a footnote, the leftovers did not heat well and came out a bit tough, although when first cooked they were tender and moist. I used medium grind cornmeal, and next time I will use a finer grind - or substitute more masa for part of the cornmeal. I had Hush Puppy shoes when I was a child (they were somewhat ugly), but I have never personally heard anyone refer to feet as dogs - only cartoons. Any barking dog has an adverse effect on me - I've been bitten more than once by dogs that were violating leash laws. I would never reward a barking dog with food, but I do think it used to be traditional in the South....See Morefunctionthenlook
