When I was a little girl and dressed up for an occasion, I'd ask my Dad how I looked. He always replied, "Like the last rose of summer." Thinking of you, Dad.

Pink it is! We welcomed our third grand daughter this week so I went shopping. I've never been overly fond of pink but I couldn't resist the little lambs.

    Congrats Maire!!

    And some more pink

Thanks Annie - it's been interesting to watch my sons become Dads. Now there are 4 little girls under the age of 4 so it will fun watching them grow up.

The red/bright fuchsia in Uptown Girl's photo reminded me of all the bright red here:

NOT my photo, but I can't get over how sweet_betsy's photo just reminds me of a rabbit. Unfortunately, I don't have a photo of a rabbit :(

    Upthread there's a yellow flower.

Our colours aren't at all vibrant this year.....too many trees with leaves turning brown and falling off. Drab drab drab. The maple trees on my street are all brown instead of the usual red and yellow.

So here is a tree on my crescent that I took this time last year.

Delivered an hour and a half ago from DS for my birthday. Just in time because now I’m on a train to London. Luckily I didn’t miss them.

From Annie’s original inspirational pink, this was a pass-along mum from a friend this year. It started out as a small rooted plant and grew over the summer to this.

Floral - those flowers are beautiful and an evening in London - the perfect way to celebrate your birthday. Thanks Dedtired and OP - I was beginning to think we'd never have grand kids but

I guess my sons are making up for waiting so long - 3 girls in 2 1/2 years plus a step grand daughter - such fun.

I posted this yesterday then realized it didn't fit. My sister emailed this pic one of her freinds took of Japanese maples at an arboretum in, I think, the Seattle area. Some of the colors relate to a couple of the above posts. Just thought it was so pretty!

Let me add my birthday wishes, Floral, and many thanks for years of your horticultural expertise.

Autumn foliage looking over my sister’s pond in Michigan where we just spent 2 weeks in our RV and, (regarding birthdays) Happy Birthday to my beautiful, wonderful Mom in Heaven today😍

    Another sweet "rabbit".

I'm a bit late contributing - blame it on the danged time difference!

So, in honor of flowers and time differences, an Australian native:

    Sturt's Desert Pea

Oh, and a belated happy birthday to Floral!

I chimed in on all of the above good wishes.

Circling back to Annie's pink rose.

Two more natives, these from my garden: the light purple is a an Australian native daisy (brachyscome multifida) and the darker one is a fan flower (scaevola albida)
