Diffuser for led light strip?

I just purchased an led light strip, 50ft, and I have another one coming tomorrow. But I didn't even think about diffusing them when I ordered them. Honestly, this is the 1st time I'm hearing about led light diffusers. So I'm stumped on what I should use to diffuse them. I want them to look as smooth as possible, with no dots or cobbing for as cheap as possible. I read on a forum that polyurethane tubing will work and it's cheap, but it's round. So what about silicone tubing? Would that be better and if so, what size diameter to get? Supposedly the farther away from the leds the tubing is, the more it'll diffuse them and make them appear smooth. My led light strip is 25ft long and 10mm wide. Any suggestions greatly appreciated!
