No details give in the FBI press conference. They probably want to run the DNA to confirm identity before saying anything more. Hopefully it is him.

I want him found alive so that he can be investigated, charged and tried in a court of law.

They found his belongings nearby, so of course it is his body. Such a sad story. I always think of the parents in a situation like this and what pain and heartbreak they are suffering.

Unless he killed someone else and planted a body by his stuff. Of course DNA will tell.

Just a gut feeling but I doubt it's him.

Terrible tragedy for both families.

Strange, somehow his parents asked to go to the area this morning. Now his belongings and ”unidentified” remains have been found.

““Chris and Roberta Laundrie went to the Myakkahatchee Creek Environmental Park this morning to search for Brian," Bertolino said.

"The FBI and NPPD were informed last night of Brian’s parents’ intentions and they met Chris and Roberta there this morning. After a brief search off a trail that Brian frequented some articles belonging to Brian were found. As of now law enforcement is conducting a more thorough investigation of that area.”“

Those statements above are from the Laundries' lawyer. I would place no reliance on anything that comes out of his mouth.

No surprise that some of his belongings would be in an area where he often camped, but 'the remains' may tell another story. No fooling DNA testing, should this be a diversion set out by his parents. Do we presume that law enforcement has kept his family under surveillance?

I would assume that.

North Port is not far from us here in the Tampa area. If law enforcement hasn’t been watching them, and I bet they have been, plenty of other people have. Every news report shows people outside the house, neighbors are often interviewed and quoted.

I have no doubt the remains are of Brian.

Devil's advocate? If my son was missing, I'd want him found. I too would go places he's been before. I wouldn't be too suspicious of the parents at this point. Of course, give it more time, and more evidence I might see it differently.

This whole case with the Laundries has been weird. Maybe the Laundries finding the items was some sort of a plea deal.

All I know is that these two deaths are a tragedy for their families and loved ones. More than that, I don't know -- and to be honest I don't care, because neither death seems to have national importance. Whatever investigation and justice should happen on behalf of the two deceased, let it happen. And again, all sympathy to their families and loved ones. But let them mourn in private.

Well said, Nickel.

His parents need to be charged for harboring him when he returned without Gabby who lived with them. They went camping shortly after. WTH!

This morning news feed says it's him. I haven't followed the story at all.

Honestly, I do not know what the parents knew or were told about Gabby. The press has condemned them but isn't that just speculation on their part? Perhaps they lawyered up because of a rabid press.

His father just so happened to be the one to find his stuff? Sounds fishy to me...I just feel like this was all set up. It's also not so easy to identify remains using DNA if there isn't enough left of the remains. They could have easily planted this there, they had so much time to prepare the crime scene! I'm very skeptical!

I do not see anything that says they have confirmed the remains belong to Brain. Just some words from the parent's lawyer saying they believe it to be Brian. I think what they are actually saying is that it is confirmed to be human remains.

Contrary to the TV crimes shows, actual DNA confirmation takes several days at a minimum rather than the couple of hours the folks on CSI etc do it.

Laundries' parents stymied the police in their initial investigation into Gabby's disappearance and so I would take anything they claimed with a large grain of salt.

Who really knows what to believe. I read that a statement released by the Laundries lawyer is that the family informed law enforcement of the possible location a month ago.

I also read that the father was looking and found one of the items. There was press near him, but not law enforcement. He picked up the item so the press would not get it. I've read the theory that the family planted items at the park. Not sure I believe it. They've been under constant surveillance by the protesters for quite some time. I don't think they could sneak out anywhere.

One theory is that the parents knew what Brian did and the camp out was their way of saying goodbye because they knew he would not be coming back home.

I heard they dug up Grampa, removed a femur, used a drone to drop it in the woods along with some belongings. Meanwhile Brian is enjoying cocktails in a small seaside village in South America.

Ok, I didn’t really hear that but while we’re guessin’…

Maybe the human remains belong to Don Lewis!

I expect that the Laundries will make a fortune off the book/movie rights.

This morning I think I heard them mention at least 4 other bodies have been found during the search. Just curious if anyone else has heard that.

They also said an FBI agent was with Brian's parents when his belongings were found. His father wandered off a ways from his wife and the agent and found the items.

Such an awful and weird story, isn't it? I too would prefer he be found alive so he could be interrogated.

I'm also baffled by his family's behavior throughout. Wasn't this their future daughter/sister-in-law? It's one thing to refuse to cooperate with law enforcement, but how could they be so completely resistant to her family's pleas for their help? What kind of family is this?

The parents know everything, that's why they don't speak up. They are in fear that they may slip up.

What kind of family is this?

The kind that bring up a murderer.

"This morning I think I heard them mention at least 4 other bodies have been found during the search."

There have been 7 bodies located, all of missing persons I believe. NOT in the BL search area, but other cases or old cases that received renewed attention.

CNN is announcing FBI reports dental records have confirmed it is him and the search is now officially over.

Dental records confirmed it's him. I will not miss this story front and center.

What kind of family is this?

The kind that goes to the dentist.

Zalco,

What kind of family is this?

The kind that bring up a murderer.

I would highly recommend the book by the one of one of the mother’s of the Columbine shooters.

A Mother’s Reckoning: Living in the Aftermath of Tragedy

Its just too convenient to find some of Brian's things and backpack plus a partial body in an area that had already been searched, and somehow, the Dad knew where to go to find these. One report stated that the body parts had been under water. I'll wait for tests on the body parts. if there exists appropriate pieces to make a positive comparison. For example, if there exists an upper or lower jaw with teeth, a check of dental xrays could be useful provided if such xrays had been made. If Brian had good teeth, there might not be any xrays.

Okay, lets assume the found pieces are Brian and his belongings. We could concoct a story that Brian did not die by 'gator or other animal attack; Someone with a good hunting rifle shot him from a distance and a 'gator chewed on the remains. Another possibility: He died of COVID-19.

Its also possible that Brian did not intend to kill Gabriel, but in his anger, he chocked her too severely.

Anyway you slice it, it is a very sad story

you don't choke a woman. period.

I've considered that the young woman's death may have been unintended, or that it happened while the young man wasn't present. He would still be the prime suspect and likely charged. I've even wondered if the entire saga wasn't planned.

The entire scenario seemed weird to me, almost as though the couple were creating a little drama, filming their travels for internet consumption. Is this 'a thing'? Do many young people travel far and wide, posting photos of themselves for the world to see? My conjecture falls apart if their adventures were not public, and we're seeing things lifted from family files.

Yes. There are a ton of "van life" folks out there, posting their travels and lives online. It most certainly is a "thing".

I would bet that BL certainly did not plan, or intend, to kill GP. I suspect that it was a crime of passion, or some indicator of an ongoing mental illness. In any event, I believe he was devastated, overcome with grief and despair, and was simply not able to cope with what he had done. And he killed himself.

With the prime suspect, who is also likely the last person to see Petito alive, now silenced, I don't know that the full truth will ever be revealed.

I do recall some earlier reporting that friends of the couple said they had a pretty volatile relationship, but that they also seemed to be genuinely in love.
