What are the gas prices in your area?
Comments (30)Outrageous that the big oil folks and their supporters can trump up phony shortages and bilk the entire world! I live in a rural area. I use a propane tank for gas heat. It costs around $400 to fill a 250 gallon tank. One is supposed to request a fill-up, when the tank is at 25% and they only fill it 80% because gas can expand. Thank goodness I also have a wood stove to mitigate the cost of the propane. I can get a cord of wood for around $180. I bought a neat device from Lehman's Non-electric catalog (Amish country). It is a small fan, which sits atop the wood stove. It is powered by the heat rising from the stove. The fan is silent and does a good job of spreading heat. Comments (36)Five years ago we paid $55K for a 3.8 acre lot 15 miles east of Austin, Tx. It is a flat (easily build-able) lot in a residential development with nice homes, reasonable deed restrictions, and city water tho we had to put in our own septic system. The property has lots of nice trees but no particular "view". A 2.0 acre lot in the same development (actually right around the corner from us) with very similar typography was just listed for sale at $106K! i.e, more than 3X as much per acre as we paid five years ago. Who knows if it will actually sell for that much. I'm hoping it won't b/c if it does, our taxing authority will use the sale as an excuse to raise our property taxes....See MoreMy post for the day-gas prices
Comments (12)Well, I mean, I have to go to work, I have to go to the grocery store. There's no use stressing out about the added expense because I can't change it. I have a small car and only commute a few miles to work so I only have to fill up maybe once a month. I do feel for people with long commutes or who have to drive around a lot. What I definitely don't do is shop around for gas prices. I guess I don't understand driving around town and fighting the crowds to save a few pennies, and I think you don't net much savings after the added miles or even idling waiting for a spot to open. I would understand a substantial difference, like $2 a gallon, but I've never seen a difference more than a few cents. My time is valuable to me so I just pick based on convenience even if it costs a dollar or two more to fill up....See MoreHow Much Are Sweet Potatoes in Your Area?
Comments (13)Last week and this week at Kroger, 49â pound for regular and $2.99 for a 3 pound bag of organic. I buy a lot because I love sweet potatoes. A while back I bought one organic, 79â pound, when they were not in bags, just to see the difference. It was not good, tasted yucky. Sue...See MoreElmer J Fudd
