I’d never be able to get my face close enough from a sitting position even if the mirror was lower. How about one of those small freestanding magnifying mirrors.

Get a taller, rectangular mirror that is installed partially over the tile. Or fill the wall with tile, then install a mirror that comes closer to the vanity.

Add magnifying free standing mirror to vanity area. Easier to see for make up anyway. Too bad tile people didn’t put a nice shape to that high backsplash. It would look a whole lot better. Many available on the market.

Several thoughts;

- You need a taller, rectangular mirror. No other option.

- You can't look JUST at the mirror. Note that the light fixture is in the right spot -- it is correctly aligned with the top of the tile to the left, so it can't really be changed. With the light fixture a "constant", you can see why a taller, rectangular mirror is a must.

- Agree with the above poster that you won't be close enough to the mirror, even if you get a lower-mounted mirror. I agree with her that a lighted stand mirror is a good idea -- but that doesn't diminish the need for a large wall mirror in which you can see yourself "from a distance".

- Consider two small lamps on each side of the vanity. This will give you light "at face level". If you have light only from above, you'll have problems with unflattering shadows.

Thank you … I will hang a rectangular mirror 52x32 to right above counter top. Will get a counter mirror as well . Just was afraid it would look wrong if mirror hung over tile but I don’t have much of a choice at this point.
