Thank you so much for the mock-ups, cawaps. Any thoughts from people on the door style and color if we went for the white color scheme? Would you try to put in a double door? Or keep a similar structure? And do you all think painted or wood look? Here are some examples of styles I like.

Your house is so attractive, is it worth the trouble and cost of painting the brick white for not really that much of a difference? And going from a pretty and interesting natural brick to cookie cutter?

If you ever plan to sell, I would definitely not paint the brick, and especially not a solid darker color.

I understand wanting a change, but I’d stick with your ”at a minimum” plan. After that see what you think.

Jinx - If you kept the brick, what color would you paint the trim? I don’t love the yellowish undertones of the current trim color, so I would probably tweak or change the trim color.

I agree — I’d paint the trim, it’d make a big difference … so many directions you could go. I’m sorry, I can’t do trim mock-ups, hopefully someone else will. :)

It might be worth calling in a local designer for help, too. Someone who can see the house in person, knows your area, has color expertise.

Per Jinx's suggestion, keeping the brick and playing with the siding and trim color. It's really hard to get the siding to match the brick because of the variation in the brick. Below I mocked up BM Wish and Cape Hatteras Sand (not that matching in the mock-up means they will match IRL).

One more with brighter white trim.

Thanks cawaps - I hadn’t thought about painting that siding in the bump-out a darker color than the trim to help it recede, and it’s definitely worth playing around with.

Jinx - I actually like brick generally, but I think the fake “schmear” on this house is part of what bothers me. If it were a real German Schmear treatment, I think I would like it better. But I agree that painting it is a commitment and expensive, so I’m keeping an open mind. :)

Hi cawaps - Can I ask you a huge favor and try one other color combo? I really like the white painted version (your fifth mock-up), but I was also thinking about a light gray brick with white trim and a dark gray door (and garage) similar to this photo. Any chance you could show me that? These visuals are so helpful. Also, if you remember the colors for the white painted version, that would be helpful to know as a starting point for paint samples.

I agree that painting your beautiful home will cheapen the look. I would try a dark color for the trim in order to add some pizzazz.. How about Urbane Bronze ?

Replace the meatball bushes with others of varying heights, style, color, etc.. I would paint the lamppost a dark color, too .

The white mockup above used BM Moonshine with trim in Paper Doll (fortunately I save the pics with the color names or I wouldn't remember..

This uses Pelican Gray for brick and siding, Ultra White for trim, and Ocean Floor for the door.

Riffing on Grapefruit1's suggestion of Urbane Bronze, this uses BM's Dragon's Breath (pretty close to Urbane Bronze) for both the trim and the siding.

You all are great! Thanks for the feedback! I’m leaning towards the version cawaps mocked up with the brick as it is, white trim, and Cape Hatteras Sand siding (or something like it) to try to blend in the bump-out. If I can still get it painted this year, I’ll be sure to post some photos of that update, at least!
