Very scary and festive. I prefer scary over cutesy Halloween decorations. I only decorate the mail boxes with fall decorations. There are 4 of us with mail boxes at the main road, not in front of our house. I haven't even got my Halloween decorations out yet. My hubby has been hunting and it's a two person job to get them from the shed loft. I think think the decorations will be scaled back this year due to lack of time.

I smiled at your mention of "running in and out." It's pretty warm here in SoCal, and I have a nice collection of pumpkins for our front entry. Each morning I wait for the sun to leave and shade to come before putting my pumpkins out. Then I bring them in at night to start over in the morning. Neighbors likely think I'm nuts, but I don't want them to bake!

I make these swags with raffia and faux betties for our lamp post and mailbox each Fall. I try to bring them in if it rains. For one thing, the raffia completely droops and looks pretty bad when wet, even with just dampness from the night air. I also wonder if the faux berries would "bleed" in the rain. Easy to replace but kind of a mess. :-/

Thanks. I put the mailbox cover on in the Spring, plant it with flowers, then remove those in the Fall and decorate, then do Halloween. I take the cover off Nov. 1st. and store for the winter.

I'd normally wait a week or so before Halloween to decorate but for some reason was ready to do it today. I noticed a lot of other people already have their Halloween decor up.

I hung up a flag with a pumpkin on it, but to be fair we never get TOTers.

I think it's fun to see it for the whole month of October. People around here started putting out Fall/Halloween decor late last month. I did start buying pumpkins but didn't put anything outside until late Friday. Fall is really my favorite time to decorate, although I keep things fairly simple. I hear people say they don't buy pumpkins until very close to Halloween because they spoil. Pumpkins can last a long time. I keep all of mine right through Thanksgiving. I even have some small ones I bought last October, like these 3 small ones in front.

I see no reason to start before October.. This year we still have flower etc. so things look really full. 🤞No freeze yet!!

Was going to put decorations out but it's been raining the last two days, good excuse not to.

I decorate for autumn/Halloween, and took it down on Halloween last year. Will do it again this year. No point in avoiding everything just because I won't hand out candy.

A modified version goes up for Thanksgiving.

I almost forget, our first frost usually arrives around Halloween and that's when I place old white bed sheets over the tomato plants. They look like ghosts out there, does that count? ;-)
