Pot pourri of Halloween Decor

Here are some random pics of some of my other Halloween decorations.

These mice silhouettes were from Martha Stewart's halloween ideas and I cut them out of black craft foam so they would last for years.

The Trick or Treat Front Porch Kid was a GoodWill find last year.

The items on the mantle are a witch that was in a package of fall leaves from the TS, the wooden dish was ARC, the Dollar Tree raven is perched on a white .99 TS wooden candlestick with some black and orange checked ribbon, and a fall garland from another TS.

The orange candles are also TS this year. The burgundy ones are up there most of the year.

I painted this Haunted House in ceramics in 1981.

I use a green Christmas Tree bulb to give it an eerie glow.

I also have some Halloween themed books next to the Haunted House.

Candy, I love the little ceramic house you painted, it really looks great with the green light too. That was very clever of you to cut the MS mice out of craft foam instead of paper. I have those patterns but haven't done anything with them yet. Was the foam easy to cut with scissors? I had thought about cutting them out of wood, but I think your idea would be easier. I really like the witch's shoe plate on your mantel, and garland always ties everything together so well. I can't believe you found that great front porch kid at the TS--what a cutie! Your home looks very festive, and I've sure enjoyed seeing all your Halloween decorations this year. TFS. Luvs

Those mice sneaking around your staircase are quite unique! Great idea for preserving them! I also like the witch shoe plate...cute...reminds me of those stockings Lynn found for her mantel. And your ceramic haunted house...great pc & green light is perfect!

Yes, have enjoyed everything for Fall/Halloween so much! TFS all your ideas!

Luvs and Belle, Is there any way to get rid of my post I messed up on? Luvs, I hope you find your book so you can finish your projects. They sound pretty cute and I'm sure you won't rest until you find it. How was time with DGD? I will be getting my grandma fix this weekend and can hardly wait. She is going to preschool and taking dance so I haven't gotten to see her during the week much. Oh Luvs, DGD just turned 4 in June so she must be a year younger than your GD. Our GD would rather eat steak than mac and cheese so I always ask what she wants for dinner and she always comes up with something. She's just starting to eat pretty well. So it's fun to watch when she's really hungry. I noticed the change when she was going to swimming lessons and then swimming an extra hour. My teapot, shoes, plates, napkins and rings were my DM. I'm sure a few of the witches were also. Most of them do a dance, talk or something so can't resit buying something new every year and I never get everything out to decorate every year. Our shop is so full of decorations that I need to quit buying but they keep coming out with new ones I can't resist and especially if I can pick them up when they are on sale. I will try to get the rest of my decorations out and post a few more pictures. Quit taking DH shopping with you and then you won't have to see that head nod, woman!!! Mine does that also and I just ignore it. Sometimes I'll grab a couple more things and give him the look just to show him I can.LOL Thanks for the idea of looking up bug art. I wanted a pattern I could just copy but it's not that I couldn't come up with something if I need to. I am going to buy JMP latest book. Have you seen it? She is a favorite of mine for sure and I can hardly wait to get it. No bugs in it though. I don't know if Sam's Club is part of WalMart but we will be getting a new Super WalMart near us so that may be nice. They have been trying to get the ok since 2003 and just got a ruling this week for the go ahead. Will close and try to get back here this weekend. Punk I don't want to sound negative but last year my camera quit working right and I called the company and was told they didn't know how to fix it so the kids bought me a new one for Christmas. Seems like no matter how expensive they are, we only get 2-3 years out of them before something goes dingy. We use ours alot so maybe thats why.

I have a carport (who in the South doesn't?) attached to my house. I refuse to let my hubby put a car in there though because I use it like an outdoor room. I put a pretty light fixture in the ceiling and I got an old, not-good-enough-for-indoor oriental rug to cover part of the poured cement floor. Where we live it's between two mountains so the ground is really hilly. The front part of the carport is at ground level and it's about 2 1/2' off the ground at the back side, which contains the door to my mud room. It's really cute and cozy out there. I have a rustic loveseat and an early American end table out there. I use four strings of Hallmark Boo Blinker pumpkin lights to string around the outside edges of the room and the two support pillars I cover with cornstalks. Then I put pumpkins and three big (10") pots of mums at the bottom of each cornstalk pillar. I buy all different color mums. I think it looks nice with the variety of colors instead of sticking to certain ones. Then I get two bales of hay and use one to make a scarecrow (and my hubby's old jeans and flannel shirt) and the other for the scarecrow to sit on. His head is a pumpkin. I also have other cute little Halloweenie decorations sitting around and then after Halloween is over I bring in the ones that are very obviously Halloween and leave the rest out there till Thanksgiving. (Don't get me started on the rest of the house we'll be here forever!) Then like a couple of big overgrown kids on Thanksgiving weekend my mother-in-law and I spend the weekend taking down the fall stuff and putting up the beginning of the Christmas decorations. :)

Mustangs, I'm sorry your husband didn't notice your decor. :( When we were getting to know each other, I was thrilled to learn Mr G was/is just as much into holiday decor as I am .... especially Christmas lights. He goes overboard (in a good way!) with them. I'm terrified of getting on the roof, but his hobby is rock climbing (mountains), so it's nothing! Mimi, oh, no!! I so hope you find your decor! Funny about the Owl sign .... the day after I took the picture, my husband backed over it with his truck! Mowed down some Zinnias, part of the Crape Myrtle, and sign. I was able to fix it. :-D Lynn, I think I remember seeing your Halloween decor in years past, and LOVE what you do! Goodness, it always awes me! Please share your pics, can't wait to see. :)

Ohhhh, I want one of those darling little Halloween kids . . . I love yours, Candy! What a great display there by your stairs. Cutting your mice out of foam board was a great idea. Thanks for sharing that one with us. It's definitely a keeper

Add me to the fan club. LOL. That haunted house you painted is wonderful. 1981 huh? So you were a talented LITTLE girl back then! ;o)
And the witch shoe plate caught my attention fast.

Wow! I love that pumpkin near the stairs! It's so cute!

Because of some things that happened in our lives this year, I haven't decorated for Halloween :( But promise, next year, I'll do the decorations and will do the best I can to find at least one Halloween house! This one is so terrific!

This looks wonderful, CC, wonderfully spooky. The green light was a nice touch. Like the wooden witch shoe dish and the stack of books too.

Candy You did such a great job!! The mice are perfect, I really like all of it, Everyone has said what I wanted to say. Love it all.

Candy, I love your haunted house and the green light is very spooky!

Your pumpkin kid is adorable and the mice are so cute. Your mantle is so pretty with the fall leaves and candles.

wonderful potpouri of decorations - I just love the mice on the steps - I don't have any stairs in my house but I am going to try and figure how to use that idea - love the green light in the ceramic house - very clever - TFS ......

The Trick or Treat Front Porch Kid stole my heart along with everything else! I want one too. I may have to see if I can find an outfit and make one. This is so much fun to see all your cute decorations.

Lynne, the mice could go along the baseboard anywhere in the house. You could even cut out a mousehole and put that on the baseboard!

Lynn, it is actually the soft craft foam, not foam board.
It was really easy to cut.

I love your mantel with the fall leaves and berries. The plate caught my eye but I really like the raven up there on top of the candlestick. How funny!

The haunted house is of course unique. You must have had great fun using it all these years. And the green light is a great idea!

Magpie, jot down ANOTHER idea for next year--build a haunted house.
