We did two different cabinets and two different counters. For me the key was that (1) my island and some of my cabinets are white which is not too busy (you have black, the same thing) (2) I used only one counter material that was dramatic & the second was more even in tone/less coloration and (3) our two counter colors were in the same color family - both were basically medium gray - one all and the other gray with white. Pietra del Cardosa perimeter counters & super white quartzite island I was very nervous about this decision. Many people said 2 cabinet one counter or two counters one cabinet. But I am excited about our final decision to do both. I like a less uniform look. I worried that what I picked up looked to matchy but it doesn't in person. If you did a darker, more even tone stone like a black on the perimeter and something on the island that had more movement and just pay attention to how the counters work together you should be fine. As I keep having to remind myself, look at your inspiration photos or the FKB again to see what inspires you. I would also keep an open mind on lighter granites. Bring a your cabinet door, or other finish sample to see how they look with the slabs counters. You may be surprised and find something that works with both. But you don't have to be afraid to do two different counters if it the option you love. Regarding specific granites, I didn't find many grays. I loved pietra but it is not as durable as other granites and I love soapstone but is even less durable - both can be gray, the first lighter the second more likely black when "oiled" or very dark green, but gray if unoiled, but I don't know if people use them that way. The one mentioned in the previous post seems gray in photos but I have not seen it in person.

I thought I would update what we actually ending up doing. When I first posted I thought we would be in the house a few more years. But, we decided to go ahead and sell. Before listing, we met with a real estate agent who was very familiar with the specific area, then we met with a stager, and finally with a contractor. For the kitchen, the primary advice was to paint the stained cabinets white. The island was to painted a color darker than the walls. Also, to remove the wine rack on the island and put in shelves. For the bathroom, remove the upper linen cabinet between the vanity and the tub (see my pics above of how it originally looked) and replace the cultured marble with some sort of stone. Additionally it was suggested to paint the interior of the house gray. We ended up doing all of this. We painted all of the stained cabinets in the house white (the island we painted dark gray). We placed the cultured marble counters in all bathrooms with marble (we endeavored to make it where it would go well with the tub surround in the master bath. While we were still completing the work - most of the painting and other work had been done inside - we were asked if we wanted to show our house to someone. We frantically got the house presentable to do this and showed the house and sold it. Anyway, since so many commented on my original pictures (which are above in an earlier post) I thought I would post pictures of how the rooms looked after the work was done. I must admit that I had never really considered painting the stained cabinets. We ended up painting them all and it was one of the things that the buyers liked best about the house. They felt that the house was very move in ready. And, honestly, once the work was done I loved it and wished I had done it a long time ago (ironically we are now under contract to buy a house which has stained cabinets that we don't like...I think we have white painted cabinets in our future...)

Depends on how much of a wine person you want to prepare for. Someone very serious about a wine and likes a variety will want a large storage cellar at about 55-60°f and then a dual zone cooler to chill whites to proper serving temp. Someone else is happy to store their wine at whatever temp and then stick whites in the frig to cool them to whatever temp they are when removed. Then there are folks in the middle. We'll have a storage cellar that I hope will be about 60°f. Reds will be served right out of the cellar. Whites will go in the top of an under counter Perlick beverage cooler so they'll be about 50°f for serving. I might shove whatever cans are in the bottom to the side to stick a lighter white on the bottom to get a little cooler. Not perfect but good enough and cost effective.

@Amaris Castellano Your counters are yellow, and on my monitor, the floors have a pink cast. Those two elements will forever clash. However, I recommend a dark green to try to harmonize the 2. I prefer Vogue Green and Rookwood Dark Green they are yellow-greens. Darb Hunter Green is a full green. Shade Grown has very similar chroma value to agreeable grey, and is also part of the yellow-green family and for those reasons, I think is my favorite. But light changes color so you would have to test to see what you like. Inspiration photo: check out the floors, so similar to yours.
