I’d continue that color into hall and living room. It will feel larger, brighter and less busy.

The primary kitchen color is Soft Linen by Magnolia Home and the wainscoting is Dove White by Benjamin Moore.

Thank you all for the feedback. Seems I definitely need to go lighter, less brown, and say "goodbye" to the stripe, which is what I was leaning towards but picking a new color is so hard. Took me many tries to decide on the kitchen color. For the living room, I was contemplating the color 'Alpaca' from Sherwin Williams, but I it is so hard to tell from a tiny swatch. Might be time to buy a few paint samples and get them on the wall.

I like the warmth of your current room. If you were keeping the paint color and stripe, I might suggest just displaying the art over sofa, and leaving the rest art-free - and let the stripe be the art statement.

Just showing a couple of views - but the idea is to just simplify. More effectively showcases the stripe detail. Less is more.

Other than that - you could of course do the same color as kitchen, but it won’t give you the warmth, and it is just predictable. Maybe go lighter, if you want lighter - but still warm in the tan/beige family. BM’s Bleeker Beige is one that I like.

It all depends on what atmosphere you would like to have. If you want light and bright, the kitchen color will do it. A lot of people think light and bright is the only way to go. Either that or grey. Now that the grey fad is over, white has become a go to wall color. But white is really not the answer for every single room on the planet.

Agree with removing the stripe.

The sofa art should be hung lower, about 6" above the back of the sofa. The trio above the chair should be closer together, less than the width of the frame. Also hung lower. They should make a vignette with the chair, not try to fill the wall.

I'm not a fan of the orange "arrow" fabric on the ottoman. Too many arrows and diamonds, together with the rug. And the colour seems out of balance because it is very stand-out whereas the rest of the room is less bright . Either replace it with a different colour, or repeat the orange colour elsewhere in pillows, throw, art etc.

The stripe and living room color came with the house 10 years ago, so I am not apposed to changing things up (my kitchen was previously dark red). I did love the stripe when we bought the house, but I will quickly adjust when it is gone. I agree about white and I just don't feel that white suits the current stage of my home (I still have popcorn ceilings). If I can ever pull things together for a major remodel, maybe white would work, but not now. I really appreciate all the ideas. Maybe by spring I will finally have it done (took me forever for get the kitchen painted).
