Fresh new update - Need ideas for window treatments
Comments (14)Here are some Schumacher fabrics I thought might look nice. I like for color and pattern to be integrated into the decoration, to be part of the whole. Cap Ferrat Schumacher Mary McDonald Chinois Palais Drapes I realize Schumacher may not be in your budget- historically, it has not been in mine either. But it is nice to see what can be done with beautiful fabric. Calico Corners carries many great patterns at relatively reasonable prices. Plus, of course, I realize these colors are not necessarily correct at all. I am thinking more in terms of inspiration, not specifics, since specifics need to be chosen in real life and not online and according to budget....See MorePease help with three update ideas for an old kitchen.
Comments (66)AFTER All That... we are thinking much more about selling. We have ripped half out (sink cabinet had to go). The island is staying “as is”. The back “U” section with four Lazy Susan’s is staying “as is”. Same appliances but a big single bowl sink will be added. Using same faucet. My drawing isn’t to scale (sink is centered). However, I have my estimate order ready with the details. I’ll be using Conestoga RTA’s as I’m experienced with them. Some replace and some reface. I’m blending this combo. New long run cabinets area and all the way into the “U” will get a new top in Silestone Coral Clay * see sample on painted sample board. I’m going to do a 2” backsplash in the Coral Clay and call it a day! Like the look of the 2”....See MorePls help me tie together living room
Comments (7)Hi Lynnea, apologies for the delay. I created a 3D version of your room based on the plan you provided. Let the room look n feel open and spacious. You can have the main seating area in the fireplace room. I placed an open tall unit in the corner to make use of the space. The TV unit is placed on the wall opposite to the sofa so it can be viewed from any part of the room. If you can get rid of the built in, it would be better. If not you can use the space to place books and decor items. Add a chair, floor lamp and plant to create a reading space. If the TV is placed inside the built-in, watching TV from the far end of the room may not be very comfortable. This layout creates 2 separate areas that can easily be used as one. Hope this helps. We could work on more layouts too if you'd like any changes....See MoreUpdated kitchen in an old house needs further updating! ;)
Comments (11)I would live in the house for six months to a year before you spend any money on the kitchen. During that time make notes of the things you like and ideas for change. It would be a waste of money to change out the backsplash, then decide you want to change the range hood or the counters. Get your idea book crammed with pictures and then look at them for the theme that attracted you to them. Years ago I had lots of pictures marked in all my magazines (remember magazines?). When I looked at the collection, I realized the common theme was blue. That told me the direction to take in my new house. Your kitchen is beautiful and functional for now. Walk around with your cup of coffee early in the morning to discover what you like about it. Sip your glass of wine in the evening while you contemplate the changes that will bring you the most happiness for the money....See MorePatricia Colwell Consulting
