White Duck was a color that I toyed with early on. It was too light. Thank you for the suggestion.

Medici Ivory is lighter than White Duck.

I'm sorry. When I was previously looking at White Duck, it was for another room where I wanted a darker shade with more warmth. White Duck was too light and had more gray than I wanted. 😉

Medici Ivory does look like it would fit the bill. My husband and I compared Creamy to Antique Ivory on our foyer wall. (The background is one coat of SW Natural Choice which turned out to be too gray. Looks not much different from sheetrock backing.) My husband prefers the Antique Ivory, while I prefer Creamy. Medici Ivory could be a happy medium. I'll search for the color online. Thank you once again!

I've used SW Creamy and SW Alabaster a lot. Creamy is throughout the interior of my current house and was too much color for my exterior. So I ended up using SW Alabaster on the exterior. I had to be very careful with the exterior not to select something with any grey in it. In both cases I had either warm colored wood flooring or warm stone with tan, gold and brown stones.

SW Creamy is not as BRIGHT WHITE as you might think. It really depends on how the light is hitting it. Sometimes it seems very white to me. Others, it seems very soft. I've also used SW Navajo White and it is a much stronger vanilla ice cream color. I suggest that you prime one of the walls in SW Creamy, put two coats in a large expanse and see how you feel about it. The primer will be usable regardless what direction you make. You can do the same thing with the SW Medici Ivory, too. They will be very close. But, a large wall sample will help you make a decision.

*Bonus tip, I use the same wall color, SW Creamy, for my trim, too. I just use a shinier sheen for the trim. An architect explained this trick to me years ago. It helps to hide imperfections. I did the same thing for my exterior house color, too. SW Alabaster on both the body and the trim. But, the trim was done in semi-gloss.

Thank you. You just helped me make my decision! I do not want bright white, or white for that matter. I wanted a buttery cream look. Clearly it will not have enough body for my walls. Plus, the walls are already primed in the SW Natural Choice which I thought were creamy, but then turned gray. So no more priming. I'd love to see a couple of photos of your walls, however. 😉

We will stick with SW Antique white because I have a feeling that it is not going to be as dark as it looks on the wall sample once it's on the entire wall.

Also, we have SW Navajo White in a bedroom at our rental. Sometimes it appears the perfect color, but many times it leans peach or a very light tangerine. Marylee H - I feel that Medici Ivory leans that way, as well.

Nhb22–I’m considering antique white for a north facing bedroom so your post is very timely for me! With regards to the wall samples you posted, what order are they in? is antique white on the furthest right and creamy on the left? (Can’t quite make out the fine print on the samples)

The board with the X is SW Antique White. SW Pure White is on the other white board. SW Creamy was the middle.

Your home is similar in style and decor to what our home will look like (ours will be on smaller scale since we are downsizing this time.) I was taken aback with your 4 framed prints of Iris's. We live in TN, and the purple Iris is our state flower. My mother-in-law was a painter of water colors. She produced many Iris paintings and we have a group very similar to yours. ;)

I currently have a sample of SW Casablanca on my wall, the LRV is 76 so slightly lighter than antique white. Not sure how I like it yet, it’s definitely brighter than antique white. H D - That's an interesting color. What do you see? In Kylie's photos, I am detecting a little orange undertone. My husband would kill me if I ordered another Samplize paint sample, so I will get a small chip from SW and take a look.

Are the photos your current home? Please tell me what you have on your dining room walls? We are going very warm in ours, as I always do. SW High Tea will be the color on the upper walls above the wainscoting. Also, what are your wood floors...red or white oak...color of stain?

There’s a more straightforward way to consider colour instead of personally subjective ‘undertones.’

Hue Family / Value / Chroma / LRV

SW Aged White - Hue = 2.83Y Value = 8.90 Chroma = 1.23 LRV = 74

Antique White sits closest to the Yellow-Red Hue Family (2.76Y) so will be inclined to read that little bit warmer (peachy).

Antique White is also the darkest of the 3 here. (lowest Value)

Antique White is the most colourful. (highest Chroma)

SW Aged White sits between the other two in terms of Hue Family location, Value + Chroma + LRV.

SW Creamy is the lightest (higher Value) + most neutral (lower Chroma)

If they are all still read too peachy warm for you? Then the strategy would be to move further towards the centre of the Yellow Hue Family, away from the Yellow-Red Hue Family for an alternative colour.

Nhb22-yes the Casablanca does look slightly peachy in the afternoon light. Oh well. Someone recommended SW steamed Milk but that seems pinkish also. Would love to know what color you end up with and how you like it.

Hey there! What color did you end up using? I am debating back and forth between SW creamy and antique white as well right now. Trying to brighten up my family room which just not get a ton of natural light, but still keep it warm and have a slight contrast between the trim. Terrified to make an expensive mistake!

If you want something like creamy but with more color you could ask the paint store to darken it by 25 - 50 percent, or lighten the antique white. I had antique white painted on my kitchen cabinets in my last house and I loved it. They looked like a creamy white to me. The room was north facing. Of course, this was back in the day when my walls were a latte brown. BTW, I came to this discussion thinking I might paint my interior creamy and exterior alabaster. I’ve settled on creamy because everything else is either too peachy orange or too yellow or peachy yellow.

Allibump—I was curious if you ended up darkening Creamy and how it turned out?
