Bedroom window with window seat help

Here is a child's room that has a window seat. I'm opening up the window seat below to add baskets to look more appealing. The curtain rod is way too high and there is a large amount of wall space from top of window to ceiling. There is a pull down darkening shade which will be kept, but thinking shutters with different window treatment option.

I think shutters will interfere with the child actually using the window seat. I like keeping the shade and using café curtain.

Keep it simple and don't invest too much time and energy changing it.

I've struggled with what to do with my front (street-side) windows, one of them being a guest room and the other my office, for 12 years now. I've gone through numerous treatments including drapes, semi-sheers, wood blinds, and most recently, a bamboo shade. The problem has always been achieving a balance between aesthetics, privacy, and light-preferably all at the same time. Anyway, I finally bit the bullet and ordered shutters with a divider strip for the guest room. It's pricey but, compared to replacing the treatment every couple of years, well worth it. Due to the height of the window (about 24" off the ground and 52" tall) I can open the upper sections to allow light in while keeping the lower sections closed for privacy. Of course, they look great and add to the value of the house too. I plan to order shutters for my office too but since the bamboo shades are only a year old, I need to ease into it with DH.

I think it a great idea to get a photographic neutral background and decide upon the paint colour for your room based upon your other fixed elements, e.g. flooring, new rug. Every white paint colour belongs to a Hue Family. In this selection, BM Cottonballs is the lightest (highest Value) but BM OC-151 is the most neutral (lowest Chroma). Creating the balance you want, between Value + Chroma is called nuance. All of these Whites are susceptible to changes in the quality of light available & their surroundings. Some people perceive the low Chroma whites from the Green-Yellow Hue Family as feeling more neutral.

You have such a nice view I can see why you would want to retain it during the day. I'd mount one rod from wall to wall, and use drapery panels. One panel on each end and wider panels in the middle around the sliders so you can pull them closed. Use a lightweight lined fabric so you can get teh fullness you need without taking up too much space. Don't use shutters. They block a LOT of light even when open, and you would never have a clear view outdoors.

Maybe some kind of frosted privacy film is an option. It could probably just go 3/4 of the way up the window so the top could still be clear while still providing privacy for anyone in the room of normal height. Window film alone won’t be enough to block street lights that may be distracting for anyone trying to sleep. What about some kind of room darkening opaque drapes that block glare, provide privacy, but still let you see out through them enough to be able to determine if the window is open or closed?

How can I dress up this space, the window, the big gap between top of window and wall of curtain are brought down. It needs some pizazz and update

Use a cafe curtain as Houssan suggests. Add a matching or coordinating cushion and a good size pillow to lean on. Use a lively print fabric.

Can we see the whole space ? IMO shutters block light and view I think it is nice for a child to be able to see the trees I would do a roman shde in a fun fabric and honestly it does not even need to function since you have a blind.As for the seat you do realize that that window glass should be safety glass . I mention it becuase my cousin put his head right through a window above a window seat and needed many stiches.

I would get rid of the drapes altogether and instead put roman shades. You definitely want to get some height for the space since the window is so short, so start the shades a few inches below the ceiling.

Can I do Roman shades above the window? I thought they were installed inside the window frame part? From photos it looks like that shade is rod less?

Why do you use hem on thr top not a frilly one but ta straight one. it will cover the wall and look beautiful.
