I feel like somehow I've managed to totally hijack Ljane's thread (sorry, Ljane!) while we all sit here in eager anticipation awaiting her Vintage Charm and assorted other splotching. I'm eager to hear how those experiments are going! If history is a guide, you will see 100 posts from me in the future about paint color. Gawds, I am really hoping I can avoid that tiresome bit of board spam...

I don't mean to be unkind, but if your room is normally this cluttered I don't see how it can possibly be a dream room. All the bits and pieces of rugs and whatever of varying sizes on the floor are unsightly. If you could paint the shoe cabinet white it would look much better. Do you not have a large enough closet in this room? The white and purple chest of drawers thing does not work well with everything else. I'm afraid having all the furniture in one style also does not do this room any favors. I would google traditional bedrooms and try to get some ideas about how one should look, but right now there is so much going on here, including the two curtains, that make that whole area very confusing.

I don't have any color suggestions, but...you can't accurately see the colors when they're painted on top of a colored wall. You can get some poster board, cut it in quarters, and paint those (maybe pick your top few colors from your samples) and set those against the wall in various parts of the room and look at them at different times of day. Make sure they have white behind them (another piece of posterboard) so you can see the colors accurately and not have the current yellow wall color change them.

White Dove is dingy as all get out. I used it on my walls w/a west window. Horrible! painted over it w/Simply White. much better. white dove is like dirty dishwater. North rooms already get grayish light. compounded it w/a grayish dingy white will make it worse (Alabaster is SW countertpart to White Dove) from Kylie M's blog: If you have a north-facing room that has very little natural light, I would NOT paint it white – any white. Why? Well, colour will not come to life without light, so not only will you be fighting the gray of your limited exposure, you’ll be fighting the gray of the shade created due to the lack of natural light. Cool or true whites can look flat and unwelcoming in a low-light north-facing room. Warm whites can look dingy and chalky. So, what do you do? Seriously, just add a few table and floor lamps and play around with your Kelvins and CRI. Remember, if you have a dark north-facing room and an awesome interior lighting plan then fill ‘yer boots with any white you like. If you don’t, you MIGHT want to look at colours with more colour or chroma. Adding COLOUR to the walls of a dark north-facing room can be a great way to give it personality and prevent it from looking like a room with only primer on the walls. You could try a sample on one wall and see what you think. Alabaster may be a bit more creamier and less gray than White Dove. I just think Simply White is the perfect warmer white w/o being too yellow
