I personally don't like pendants over islands. I have all can lights in my kitchen and a large pendant over the sink. What difference does it matter how you will like it 10-15 years. Styles change and advertising shows a new things so in 2 years you may not "like it". Do what you like like now

I personally think three pendants over the sink is a terrible idea splash back steam no temperature no fun to keep clean. I would put two large percentage of your island and keep the same amount of recessed lighting and I would put two recessed lights over the sink

Sorry I used voice texting that was a stupid idea when I was trying to say is three pendants over your sink will be hard to keep clean and I think they would be cumbersome. Two oversize pendants over your island would be great. I would put two recessed cans over your sink and keep the same amount of recessed lighting throughout

Maybe wire for pendants but don’t put them up.
I personally love pendants but I think in your space they may not be necessary.
If it’s a matter of 2 or three pendants it obviously depends on the size.
But I’d rather see two larger ones than three smaller...

over the island i would rather see something like this, than individual pendants over the isalnd.

for the sink, i would do one 'down' light. 3 to me is overkill and 2 will look 'weird'. are you installing under cab lights as well?

with the undercab lights, it will help with the sink area.

'down' light another example(where all the light is down in your sink - none 'escaping' up or out

of course get the fixture to scale with the space.

Yes I do have under cabinet lighting. I ended up choosing 3 pendants over the island and no pendants over the sink; just the recessed lighting there.
