Not fading yellow rose
Comments (27)hi! I love yellow roses so I have most of what is on here, or have at least considered it. Throw out Radiant Perfume, it does not repeat well at all. Julia does fade, love it though. Midas is a wonderful non fading yellow and fragrant. Try this one. St patrick is great and great form but a light scent. Shockwave has none to mild fragrance and although the pic above is awesome, some of the pics have a red hue on the fully open flower edges Hotel california has a mild fragrance according to HMF. Golden Celebration is a climber here, love it I also have 2 yellow climbers Golden Showers (wonderful despite the name), and Scent from above (finally coming into its own in the 3rd year) In addition I have buccaneer but that is difficult to find....See MoreYellows that Fade and Yellows that Don't
Comments (17)Within the time we had them before RRD struck (less than 2 years), our Julia Childs didn't fade a whole lot here in NC. They were always a shade of yellow, identifiably yellow, never merely yellowish or creamy white. In cool weather, that yellow was intense, like butter. I have a picture that I took of Julia Child with an exceptionally early blooming Debutante (beautiful pink) camellia in November. Julia wasn't picked on the first day that she should have come in--but one or two days late, and then it took me a couple of days to get around to taking its picture in the vase. Anyway, it was a nice buttery yellow when I took the picture and the vase of the butter yellow Julia Child and the pink Debutante looked good for at least five days. It was noticeably more faded at the end of its time in the vase, but still looked like a yellow rose. Rise 'N' Shine fades really badly and really quickly, at least in hot weather. (We haven't had it in cool weather yet.) That's in the landscape. But if you notice that a bunch have just opened, you can cut them and bring them inside for a flower arrangement. They stay pretty close to perfectly the same bright yellow once inside in the air conditioning and they make nice little miniature additions to an arrangement. To the extent that we've seen Ghislaine de Feligonde blooming (not much), it fades quickly but is still attractive as a creamy small rose. Best wishes, Mary...See MoreBehr pale greens that won't look sickly in a small space?
Comments (11)Thank you all very much! I wish I could just ask her, but she is in another state, totally overwhelmed by the move and has asked me not to ask her to make any more decisions. At the same time, I want to give her a room she will like so I am using her requests as a starting point. I really like that Looking Glass color, but I think she wants more of a green, so I used Pale Celery as a jumping off point and made a list of other colors near it on the Behr color thingamajiggy online and I'll check them out at the store. The painter says he only needs a gallon so worst case scenario if she looks horrid we won't have to live with it forever....See MoreDo yellow and pale pink roses go together?
Comments (31)Yellow and pinks are more or less complementary colours. It is a classic combination in colour designs. However, it also depends on the hues of colours. A hot lipstick pink may not look great beside a faded creamy yellow for example. In the end, it really depends on what kind of effect you are trying to achieve. I don't really care about clashing colours myself because in the natural world, all colours are mixed together not segregated. But for those folks who wants the "designer" looks, it is another story. The general rule with regard to colours in gardening is that soft colours especially blue and pink tones colours will appear further away as opposed to hot fiery colours. This "rule" may be important for someone who has a small garden. If you want your garden to appear larger than they are, you may want to plant all the soft blue tones flowers in the back and the red fiery to the front as the eyes will detect the fiery colours first. It will trick the eye that the garden is much larger than it is....See MoreMetteBee_Copenhagen8b
