yellow/gold/orange Austins that don't fade?
Comments (12)Thank you all for good places to start my research. I did like Charlotte when I had her years ago but the deer killed her and I'm looking for something with a little more of the gold or orange in it this time. It would be so nice if the label or the catalog would tell you how it faded! Of course that would say something like "soft ivory" rather than "grayish parchment" but "fades a lot" and "holds its color well compared to" would be helpful!...See Moreyellowing of leaves don't know what up with this plant

Fading/Yellowing New Cool Season Grass
Comments (1)For a moment I was looking at the surrounding dead areas and thinking, "I have no idea how to help this person." But it's Labor Day and I'm rushing my reads a little bit. :-) For a larger lawn, I'd suggest a soil test as I have my suspicions about the soil. I'm not going to share those because randomly throwing things at a given soil without knowing what you're dealing with is not a good idea (and I might not be right, and I certainty don't know the correct amounts). I'm going to leave it open as an option to you, assuming that you're going to grow more grass in that area--get a Logan Labs soil test. What this appears to be is that the seed is supplying resources to the growing grass, then it runs out and the new grass is relying on the soil, which simply doesn't have everything it needs. The grass turns less attractive colors. For right now, at the one month date, the grass runs out of natural resources and would like a nitrogen feeding. Patches that small are hard to feed easily and safely with a synthetic, so I'm going to recommend buying a bag of Milorganite. Scatter it lightly over the area. It also contains plenty of iron, which will help with greening the grass safely, and is something I don't mind adding blindly as it's extremely safe to do so....See MoreMy calathea has these yellow spots don’t know what to do!
Comments (5)does the pot drain.. and does the soil ever near dry??? most of us dont believe any usual houseplant need a humidifier ... i usually dont even think of that as a variable.. until the cat start sparking me.. after the furnace has brought the humdity so low that happens ... and even then.. all it does is make me water the plants a little sooner .. and that puts enough humidity back into the air ... its not that its doing anything negative.. beyond running your electric bill up a bit .. and thats money for more plants.. lol ... and i dont see any upside to wetting the leaves .. other than to clean them off once a year or so ... why is there water standing on your plants??? ken...See Morejerijen
