The rug you currently have does look like it might be too big for your space. You might want to consider trying a smaller rug that will leave some of the wood exposed.

If it doesn’t interfere with the swing of the doors, I’d keep it. Not only are rugs a nuisance to swap out, this is a private room and someday soon whoever is in the crib is going to be out crawling around, and the ”wall to wall” rug will actually work well for that

I assume since your asking you care about it looking good and not just about covering as much floor as possible for future crawlers. In that case, it looks too big and the smaller will give you a much better look .

Seeing as it's a child's room, keeping the larger rug would help keep sound down. I vote leave it in 1) it's already there 2) when it begins to wear or have baby/child stains, THEN maybe go down to a smaller size Unless you have the Queen of England coming to visit, it's YOUR house. (I guess even then, it's still your house =] )

I do think the rug is way too big and just looks crammed in (doesn’t lay flat). Maybe take it out and tape off a smaller size, see what you think.
