It's May 2014, how is your build - Part II?
Comments (150)Autumn, we have a similar ladder that we bought at Menards when I painted parts of our home last year before putting it on the market. I love having the handle at the top to hold on to since I don't particularly like ladders. :-) By the way, I really like how your pendants look in the kitchen. Everything came out so nice! Good luck on the inspection! JDez, whew, about the check! Thanks for the reminder. We have to pay our trim carpenter this week and then get money back from the bank on our next draw. I need to transfer some money from savings to checking. Today our glass shower door is being delivered and the carpenters are going to start working on our closets. Oh, and last weekend we bought this for my catch-all desk right inside the doors. Craig's List find. Plenty of room for mail, purse drop off, keys, charging station, land-line, etc. Needs a little clean up in the grooves but in excellent shape. It's extremely heavy....See MoreHelp with selecting siding color for new lake house
Comments (20)In MN houses with vinyl siding near our lakes seem to fade so quickly. Quite the chalky outer layer in time. Not certain why, but the same sidings in town did not. Our vinyl siding cracked/crumbled after only 11 years on the house. We went with a blue LP Smartside with white trim for our lake home remodel. It should outlast our lives. It will survive hailstorms (vinyl didn't). Neighbors say it really blends in with the blue sky and the blue waters of the lake....See MoreChoosing color - Hardie Siding
Comments (34)I swear by pre-finished Cobblestone. It's the third time I am using it on a renovation. When I started in 1990, it was only available on the West coast and I had it shipped to the NY area. It goes beautifully with beige or greige and with white trim. Limestone or sandstone Belgian block (Unilock) and facing if you want a stone look on your foundation and/or columns. Neighbors used a similar painted color and painted twice over the 13 years that my pre-finish was installed. I NEVER painted, except for the Azek trim. Word to the wise...the Azek gives you touch up paint to cover the nails...it turns dark grey and looks like speckles so you have to repaint that in a couple of years. Incidentally the JamesHardie folks honor their warranty. It is possible to have some damage to any painted product with heavy rainfall such as we have been having on the east coast, and when that happened on one side of my home that bore the brunt (two boards) they replaced the entire side...labor and material....See MoreDiamond Kote Siding - oyster shell, sand, beige
Comments (9)I agree the French gray is too much and I don’t know if I love sand either based on that picture. I have seen that same picture with Oyster shell labeled as the Clay color, and it seems so gray in the picture compared to the sample I have so I’d like to see other pictures with them besides just the ones on the website....See MoreA L0108
