Why do the kittens chew my cell phone charger?
Comments (20)Calliope, I think you might be on to something. They chew only the charger cord and always right where the wire goes into the charger thingy that apparently has current in at all times. But it's also true that months ago when they were really tiny, they chewed a very thin wire. Well, the FOURTH charger for this month is safely tucked away in a drawer and I'll start trying a couple of the methods you've all given me to try and make sure it's the last charger....See MoreNeed Cat-Proof Cordless Phone
Comments (4)Carol, Unfortunately, a phone from the UK is not directly compatible with our US system - connectors, pin assignment, ringer operation can all be different. The transmission frequency of the cordless signal is usually different and can cause RF interference. Finally, the power adapter will have a UK style plug for 240 volt service. Regarding you current phone, the rechargeable battery in the handset may have reached the end of its life. Some can be replaced easily but others may require disassemble and could have soldered connections. Also sometimes the batteries can be a proprietary design which are no longer available. You may wish to Google the make, model, and phrase replacement battery and see what comes up. As far as a replacement, you may wish to search for a "wall mount" design where the phone fits the cradle like your current one (often can be put in with the keypad side either facing in or out), but also allows for desktop use. I think that would probably solve the problem for you. Of course, you may have to get one with an answering machine as well. Also DECT 6.0 phones are the most current technology and provide the best range since they use a lower frequency of 1.9 GHz instead of 2.4 and 5.8 GHz like older cordless phones. By the way - it appears the first reply to your posting was from an absent minded spammer!...See MoreSo angry at my cats right now! Help!
Comments (42)My cats have always been pretty good in the potty area (thank god) although they have taken down a fewoutfits I used to hang on the back side of my door when I lived in a condo...the worst damage was to a 1930's cashmere coat...it has shread marks where they used it to climb (and then get stuck on) the top of the door when they were kittens. But now we have a puppy. We've moved to the new house and have found out that he not only likes his pee pad (used by his breeder) but he feels anything on the floor is a giant pee pad. Today I'm putting the sheepskins down in the library (because it looks awful) and I'll be spraying with a natural spray that is supposed to keep him from pooping or peeing on it. I'm a neurotic decorator when it comes to rugs. They (IMO) need to be included in any good design, but now I can't put any down because of this freaking dust mop we now own. So...we'll see how the natural stuff works! I'll let you know....although my kitties don't feel the need to pee on every horizontal surface...so maybe to them it won't matter....See MoreI'm going to entitle my memoirs "Cats: Why We Can't Have Nice Things"
Comments (150)How I Loooooove these cat stories!! I couldn't help getting a few tears in my eyes but so many more laughs!!! At 73, I can't say I ever remember a time I didn't have at least one weaving in and out of my legs, tail up, meowing either for attention or food. A few even tried to use me as a scratching post !lol My bff in IL takes in rescues, and at the moment has 21 or 22. The 100 yo historic home she bought 9 years ago came with 2 separate garages, one housing the majority of the kitties, the other is used for storage, but she always keeps the big door open a foot at the bottom, and knows *other* critters take part in the 'vittles' also. Sthe has either 4 or 5 in the house, one being a mama cat w/7 kittens, the very start of her rescue 'mission'. She gave away 2 of those kittens(after neutering!),and never stopped regretting it. They have all found a forever home with her. Her vet/food costs are insane, and when I visited in the summer we found worms in one of the litter pans, and in a two day period, took every cat into the vet to be dewormed. That was $400. It's neverending work! Whenever I call she's scooping, feeding, or rocking one of them in the old rocking chair that was moved out to the garage. She also donates to almost every animal organization known to man, even if it's only $5. She's a one-woman rescue shelter, and I wish I were closer to help. We always say we like animals more than people because animals can't help their situatuon, but people usually can....See Moreamykath
