Comments (4)kelleg I will be doing this behind the range top, 30" H x 48" L and wanted to carry the tile on the other 3 walls. Is that what you mean by an accent behind the stove? also, believe it or not there are purplish iridescent glass tiles that change color to whatever is around it. Its showing up as muddy red in the pic. The range top comes tomorrow, and I'm hoping I can get to it -to check out just how red the knobs are,,,its been so long I can't remember. I'm hoping they're more of an orangey red than a red red. as for red accents, I'm looking at amber glass pendants for above the island. only if the reds don't clash. I appreciate your thoughts because I realize this isn't too ordinary....See MoreBacksplash color
Comments (7)I agree with preview poster that it depends on whether or not you want your counter to stand out. All of boxerpups pictures show great looking kitchens in which the backplash is the focal point. If you look quickly through them, you probably will not remember what the counter looked like. I would say if this is your goal, keep what you have already selected. However, if you want the granite to stand out then consider going with tile that is the lightest color found in your granite. I read somewhere online that is how to make your granite stand out. I decided to do that with mine and it is turning out nicely. However, I also really love the kitchens where the backsplash is highlighted by going with a darker counter-top....See MoreFurther thoughts on backsplash/tile - comments and ideas?
Comments (2)Well, we're nowhere near INSTALLING the backsplash yet! But I know that when these guys get going they move fast so I need to have my choices approximately sorted out in my head, even if not finalised. And, of course, backsplash can always go in months from now, but still - it'd be nice to get it done while they're on the job! And I keep hoping that backsplash may give me an idea for paint, since I STILL don't have a colour-scheme plotted out yet. Oy. Today, they've hung the rest of the upper cabinets, we've hashed out the final details of lower cabinet placement and how to build a fridge box out of the oven cabinet that came with the set (remember, 2ndhand cabinets so we're working with what we've got rather than ordered exact design) and they're now working on the beam where the old wall was, and punching the holes in the extension walls (which turned out to be cement block - YUK!) for outlets, sink pipes and gas line. It's actually been a slow week by their standards, but they're picking up steam so they can tie off a few things before the weekend! For a two-man operation, they're nothing short of amazing :)...See MoreKitchen Backsplash Suggestions
Comments (3)Sunshine: you might want to x-post this in the Kitchens forum -- lots of traffic over there, and the kinds folks will happily go gaga with helpful suggestions. Good luck!...See MoreMrs Pete
