Look's like the stuff Home Depot pulled off market a few years ago due to fumes causing central nervous system damage with symptoms similar to Parkinsons. I understand it looked nice and held up very well.

Contact your local Sherwin Williams store to see if they stock it. They bought the paint company 20 years ago and at the time planned to keep the name in the markets where it had high share. If they don’t make it any more then likely it was bought as part of a close out and allows the contractor more profit. I didn’t find anything on the HD issue on the Internet. I’d prefer product purchased for my job, not “on hand”. Start with the local SW. I suspect they got rid of the name/product as it’s expensive to maintain so many different skus.

Your GC needs to hire a cabinet finisher, not a painter. That stuff will not stand up to kitchen use. This just shows why not to work with a woodworker who doesnt finish his product in house. Or a cheap GC.

Thanks for your comments and info! I called Sherwin Williams here in Minnesota, and they do still carry this product. It’s not old stock, so thats a relief. The GC we’re working with is by no means cheap, and has a fantastic reputation. I may have misspoke when I said painter, rather than cabinet finisher, although I do think they work for the same sub. Joseph, why do you think it wont stand up to kitchen use? I’d appreciate it if you can help me understand. thank you!

Not my question but there are different kinds of varnishes, and in a kitchen or bath you want waterproof like polyurethane. Maybe this one is not.
