Interestingly, blue has cycled back into popularity, so your door doesn't look dated, but maybe a slightly different shade of blue would look more up to date - not sure. Or a sophisticated gray - young buyers would love it. I would remove the storm door - which DOES date the house. Put a fresh coat of paint on the shutters, use the replacement roof as a bargaining tool with the buyers. Let them mention it, agree to replace, and allow them to choose the color. Put a nice seating arrangement on the porch and some planters. I would put some money into renovating the landscaping. I would consider getting rid of the some of the large shrubs in front of the house. The plant on the right side of the sidewalk looks terrible right now. Unless it looks super wonderful when it leafs out, maybe that's not what you want there. Drive around to some builder's model homes and look at their landscaping for ideas. The cupula over the garage is darling. Maybe you could put copper siding on it? Prettier mailbox and street numbers? Prettier light fixture? Stagers tell us that potential buyers spend a few minutes at your door as the real estat agent is opening the box to get to your keys.

I'd start with a dark valued roof, using an "architectural" grade shingle (has greater thickness and surface depth than a standard shingle). Thereafter, I'd unify and match the door and window trim colors. I'd also consider repainting all of the siding so that the overall house appearance is unified and harmonous, rather than the changeout of just a few items such as shutters and garage door. A color scheme I like with warm brick is a grey-green siding with muted red window frames and door frames. Front door could match or be a harmonious accent color, ie, yellow, sienna, etc. Garage door replacement could have a strip of rectangular windows at the top panel of the door, or simply be a solid door. Garage doors are so large that they tend to visually dominate the house elevation where they are located, so the best bet is to paint them a dark valued hue that recedes and does not call attention to itself. In the color scheme suggested above, it could be a neutral grey or dark green. Using a computer-based color selector, suggested above, is a good idea. Good luck!

If you make the other changes as suggested, I don't think you'll feel the need to paint the brick. There's no sense creating a maintenance issue where there is none now. The house has the potential to be very handsome. Some pretty pots with flowers on either side of your door will add some color as well. Don't forget that nothing looks pretty this time of year when trees are bare and lawns are brown.

We had a hailstorm last year and had to have our roof replaced. Where we live several houses were having their roofs replaced and our HOA calls for you to have the color “weathered wood”. We started noticing lots of roofs being replaced and the newer shingles are very speckled looking! a house that has a lot of variation in the brick can really look a little crazy if the roof is speckled also. I would just be really careful picking what looks like architectural shingles using sample pictures. If you call the roofing supplier or your roofer they should be able to give you addresses of the colors of shingles you’re interested in so you could actually drive to by that home and see the shingles on an actual home. We found it very helpful and the color “weather wood” is very different looking across different brands of roofing. We chose Malarkey brand their Legacy line in “Weathered Wood” color upgrading to the class 4 impact resistant shingles. you also might check with your insurance company because we paid a little extra to get the class 4 impact resistant shingle and we get a discount on our insurance.
