I was in foxglove heaven this spring

I started seeds of foxgloves and lupines in early 2020. I planted them out in the spring and summer that year, and during the winter was happy to see them get established. Some made a large clump. I had never grown Russell lupines , had heard they are difficult here due to heat, and had little confidence they'd survive or bloom. But they did bloom! Each plant had about one bloom stalk. That was enough to make me happy. I was thrilled.

Now the foxgloves are spent, mostly gone, but the lupines live on. I am beginning to hope I may even see more blooms next spring! They seem tougher than expected. Here are a few pics from spring, which had mostly cool temps so that made it all the more enjoyable.

Most of them were about five or six feet tall.

I got rid of a big Ruth's German Rose which freed up a lot of space, and it was wonderful to have a little space to grow these.
