Anyone else getting false notifications of new messages?

I keep getting notices of new messages when there aren't any. I did notice that many of the old messages in my inbox were marked as unread, even though they've been opened, read, and ANSWERED...some from months and years ago. "6 new messages" seems to be a totally random number, as there were MANY more marked "unread" than just six. I marked them all as "read", and still I'm getting notices of FIVE unread emails. I tried clearing my How-uzzlezz cookies, and that didn't help. Anyone else, or is this just another random (personalized) glitch descending from the halls of Utter Confuzzion?

Oh, good! One glitch I am NOT experiencing. Good luck with the fix, John! My sympathy.

My HOUZZ challenge is that the text typing slows to a zombie pace after a sentence or two and/or grinds to a halt while I’m commenting. I highlight and “copy all” every couple of lines so that I can just paste back in the whole deal if the text and page completely freeze up. It’s getting kinda tedious! 🙄

I also am missing photos from photobucket as well. I had been searching for weeks for photos I knew I uploaded but now are not in any of the folders. It also seems like Photobucket has made some changes/adding new features and I was wondering if this has something to do with the missing photos. I can post but can't find the photos and don't have the time right now to upload them all again. I don't have AVG but did at one time but found it was giving me false/positive warnings. Julia

That was my first thought when I started reading complaints, app developers will be all over it & go 'retro'. Rumor had it on some boards that iOS7, when in beta phase, was being designed to compete with android (never saw an android in action myself, so don't know if it now compares). I'm still going to hold out but the only drawback to that is most app updates are going to be for 7 and if one isn't careful could accidentally update some apps that won't behave on 6. Still hoping Apple listens, this has been the first smart phone that I haven't wanted to pitch out a window at 60 mph (as opposed to my prior blackberrys, which made me go bat crazy sooner or later). A long script may be an infection or a nasty tracking code. It could also be some 'wild code' that got away from Garden Web. What to do: Exit Garden Web. Bring up your control window of your virus scanner and check for updates. If updates are available, download and install. Exit the internet and have your anti-virus software scan your system. And then, reboot. The above instructions is not a cure-all, but a precaution. A poorly writtne or bad script can grab your computer resources to the point where not much can be accomplished. Another option some of my aquainences uses is o scan with CCleaner. The free on-lne version has been helpful in clearing out unwanted junk that clogs a sysgem. This is one of the problems with social forums. These can become infected unknowingly by a user. Often, the infection in an attachment or link to another site.

Thank you Linelle and Lukki. Do either of you know how to get Tamara's attention? I would like to get them again. If you don't want notifications you can click at the bottom of any thread you've commented on to stop notifications for that thread only. I used to do that all the time, so I don't think that is the problem.

@Sheila z8a Rogue Valley OR Sheila, one of your messages is among the guilty, lol. All of the (false) message alerts finally cleared yesterday, but today, your last message to me is again showing as new. Go figure :P

It definitely wasn't anything you did, Sheila. The message that suddenly was "new" again was the one about Wm III. I had read it the day you sent it back in April. It just spontaneously became "unread" today for some reason, lol.

Surely I'm not the only one????? That feels a bit like persecution, lol.

It happened AGAIN today. I had an alert for two new messages. I went through both the old and new inboxes, and the TWO OLDEST messages were showing as new. These weren't even messages I had received, but two that I had SENT...in 2016! This seems to be a glitch in the new mailbox, since it's there they keep reappearing as new.

I'm not even going to bother with reporting the issue at this point, as it's basically an exercise in futility. Sooooooooo...if anyone sends me a message and you don't get an answer right away, it's because I'm ignoring the alerts! Apologies in advance.

I was seeing it, so I deleted all the old, answered messages. That seems to have stopped it.

Welp....now it's showing I have TWENTY new messages. Only I don't :P

Thanks, Mad_gallica. At least I know it's not a personal curse, lol.

I like to keep some of my old messages, so I have a record of the conversation. A lot of them concern rose trades or info about specific roses. Some have addresses and phone numbers of other members. I may have to copy everything to a Word document and delete them from How-uzzlezz.
