Please suggest cabinet & counter color; here's my kitchen pics
Comments (59)I'm open to streamlining some of my dishes, mugs, etc. However, my immediate concern is about the fridge, and how goofy it might look sticking out on the new wall. My current fridge is 32" deep. I paid $800 in 2006. I really want to get a much bigger one with the freezer on the bottom and the french doors on the top. I feel like I got my money's worth out of it, and will find a good home for it. I will have to masking-tape out the counter & fridge. I really want more freezer space (that's why I'm open to getting a new fridge). I even considered a small separate freezer but the smaller ones are not automatic-defrost, and I don't want to empty it twice a year, and deal with the water (not having a drain). As mentioned above, maybe a fridge that doesn't extend too much beyond the counter might be better, but I'm not sure how much more freezer space that will give me. I need to research how much capacity my current one is for reference. I looked through it's manual but don't see it referenced. I also need to use the ikea configurator and fully populate the space, and see how much room I want to allocate to trash in the corner. Thanks again for everyone's interest and great ideas! Comments (71)Carrie_eileen!! I don't know how I missed this (well... I had a baby in Feb so that was probably it! :) ) but I just stumbled on your kitchen thread and I just wanted to tell you how beautiful it looks!! It's amazing how effortless the details feel - and the countertops are amazing!! I'm so happy for you and although I'm sure the schedule made it crazy, how great that you were able to get all of this done so quickly... I hope to someday *soon* post pics of our finished kitchen... still too many loose ends to tie up to do that yet :) Enjoy your amazing kitchen and congrats!...See Morewhite quartz countertops....turmeric staining.
Comments (418)Fsal, that poultice works pretty good for oil stains. I tried it a few years ago on my carrara (before it was properly sealed). made the paste and covered it with a moistened paper towel, and then the plastic wrap. left it for a day or two. it does draw up the oil. you may have to repeat. They also sell these poultices ready-made (search "marble poultice") for stains. ILoveMod quartz is man-made. quartzite is natural. (quartzite is made of natural quartz but it's called quartzite). as for the resin, cheaper quality quartz may use a cheaper resin/materials. The most common yellow stains on any quartz brand countertop are the following; 1) General yellowing to the entire quartz surface due to build up of salts & surfactants 2) Around under mounted sinks - due to salts & surfactants in dish soaps. High pH 3) high use & cleaned area. 4) Under coffee machines 5) under pot plants on the quartz countertop 6) under dish mats or drying mats near the sink 7) under fish tanks. All of the above allow the salts & surfactants to form and generate the quartz countertops causing the yellow or light brown staining. As you will notice that UV light does not generate dish mats, under fish tanks and also pot plants. Whilst UV light can accelerate the yellow staining to white quartz countertops. IT IS NOT THE CAUSE! (they even mention high humidity and relation to salt water as contributing!) Comments (37)Perhaps if you do a bathroom counter it would justify buying the second slab. My installer charged me by the foot, so if I went into a second slab, I didn't have to pay for the part I didn't use. Home Depot carried Viaterra brand, but the one near me doesn't carry Lumina because it is a new color. That was lat year. Write to corporate and ask if they plant on carrying Lumina nation-wide. go to Viaterra Corporate and perhaps you can find other dealers that carry it. I had to drive about 40 minutes to see it person and order it....See Moredianemck
