Blanco Silgranit sink 'need' a sink grid?
Comments (14)Thanks to all who have replied so far & those upcoming. Amazing & I really do appreciate it - chris45ny, websitegirl, breezygirl, mabeldingeldine, a2gemini & cindyof4kids. Chris45ny, all you can do is give me your opinion and I appreciate you taking the time to reply. Westiegirl, glad to hear you have not felt the need to get a sink grid after 4 months. I must say that I am a little suspicious of the HD sink. We hear that often, about items not being the same from super stores - usually faucets & such. Breezygirl, odd how we feel like we know you because we have heard & seen so much from you. I am especially glad you replied because I know you have the same metallic grey color as I do and I knew you didn't start out with a sink grid. I suspect I will hate them too, as I didn't care for them the few times that I washed at other people's sinks with grids & have hated things getting trapped under there & things not able to stand in the sink, etc. Mabeldingeldine, glad to hear you have put that sink through a lot & super hot water to boot. Awesome news! Maybe the problem is in extremely cold areas? I am a little envious of the thought of your garden & even more envious of your chilies! Spicy, my favorite. I have a small outdoor deck where I grow flowers. Nowhere for veggies & such, but I still love tinkering in my little garden. A2gemimi, I haven't forgotten you & I have been lurking late at night. I replied to your PMs so I hope you got my replies. My faucet is centered. You can PM me to see how I like it centered, as things will be too crazy for me to check GW daily. After I move back, I will have to furnish most of my place and I have a 3 year old keeping me very busy. Try me after the weekend - maybe next Tues and check if I have any thoughts on it. If you need an answer sooner, email away & I'll let you know. I expect chaos when I first move back because work is not completely done, but my husband is determined to go home. Cindyof4kids, I too feel like the disposal & the grid combo will be an issue. Glad again to hear about the hot water stories. So, my plan is to skip the sink grid and ride this pony bareback. If I find I need a saddle, I'll deal with it then. Again, much thanks. Jamrock...See MoreDid I just get a Blanco Silgranite I sink (not Silgranite II)?
Comments (7)The Homeperfect site is working today. If you think you didn't get what you paid for and you are concerned about durability, then I'd return it. The number on their website is 1-888-850-3999. (That might be a sales line; they should be able to give you a customer service number. Also there should be a number in the paperwork you got with your order.) If the description on their website didn't specify whether it's the I or II model then that wouldn't necessarily be a reason to return it (in their minds) but you also have the issue with the scuff mark that you could use as a reason. If the description did have a model number that's different than the model number on the box you received, that's certainly a valid reason for a return. I'd also call Blanco's customer service rather than waiting for an email response. Then you can have a live conversation about your concerns....See MoreCalling all Blanco Silgranit Sink Owners!
Comments (20)Hi flaherty -- I bought my silgranit from homeperfect too. My experience with homeperfect was, well, not perfect. But not bad either. This is what I took away from the interaction: They happen to have some *VERY* pushy salesmen, They are not all that pushy. The supervisor was quite nice, though not clearly anymore 'superior' than simply another CS rep - I think they may be all fairly autonomous. I had an order all laid out and then couldn't get it to go on the computer so called the next day. The rep was nice-enough, sort of, but ended up pushing me to a purchase I hadn't intended and as I didn't have my list in front of me I didn't realize. I was not happy. I called back and got a different rep and the experience was *very* different, moreover the second rep seemed to know exactly of which I complained. Eventually I talked with a supervisor and we hammered out an agreement about the problem. I would never deal with the first rep again; I would happily deal with the second and supervisor. I would be quite cautious buying stuff from homeperfect, they're kinda pushy. This is in contrast with some other internet operations; some are just neighborhood stores with telephones, some are huckster-pushers. But a sink is a sink; it comes in a box, it's supposed to be what it's supposed to be. If it isn't when it arrives, you have a right to get one that is. Even from hucksters. But you may have a more irritating experience getting there! That's my experience at least. I didn't see your photos but it sounds like the details of whether you have what you should have are worked out. If it's not as it should be, just keep talking to someone else at homeperfect until you find someone who responds as they should. This isn't really terribly exotic as problems go, it's just your particular CS rep who's exotic! Just go get another one. Long ago in dealing with the phone company especially, I learned that if you draw a rep who is just not getting, answering bizarrely or refusing to grant a simple request, just stop mid-sentence, say "thank you very much", hang up and dial for another one. It's just not worth the aggravation. I think my first dud-rep at homeperfect was "Adam". I'd avoid him like the plague, personally. Hope this isn't slander -- ymmv and I'm sure he's a loving individual. I just found him, personally, a pia to deal with! Good luck. I love my silgranit -- I have the cascade which I thought was kinda cool. But I have to say, if I had it all to do over again, I'd have gotten a bigger bowl. I guess I like biiiiiiig sinks. Maybe a bathtub would have worked? ;)...See MoreNew Blanco Silgranite Metallic Gray Sink has wavy stains, water lines
Comments (18)Thank you so much for this thread. I also just got a Blanco metallic grey sink and it had the exact same spots as you describe. I tried 1) paste of water and baking soda and scrub with a sponge for 5 min, 2) thick application of Dawn liquid dish soap, let it sit for 5 min, then scrub with a sponge for 5 min, 3) Bar Keepers Friend cleaning powder, 4) BlancoClean Daily+ Sink Cleaner, applied thick layer and let it sit for 7 min, then scrub. None of this worked. I contacted the manufacturer and here's what they suggested. -------------- Silgranit sinks are non-porous and are a solid color all the way through and therefore stains are only on the surface and all food grade stains can be removed. I would suggest the below two methods: Fill the sink with very hot water and adding 2-3 cups of white vinegar. Once the water has cooled, drain and you can then use a Scotch Brite pad or Mr. Clean Magic Eraser and give it a little scrub with a baking soda and water paste. Once the sink is clean you can apply a thin layer of mineral oil, and this will usually rejuvenate the look of the Silgranit. Dishwasher Tablets- Fill sink with HOT water into the bowl, dissolve a tablet overnight, and then scrub with scotch-Brite nylon pad and then thoroughly rinse with dish soap and water. Apply a thin coat of mineral oil to restore the sheen. -------------- For me, suggestion #1 worked beautifully. However, I think the key was the thin layer of mineral oil. Reading this thread, and seeing that others tried various types of oil, gave the confidence to try it. I'm glad I did!...See Morewhyisrenosostressful
