Schock-Houzer Granite Sink vs. Blanco Silgranit
Comments (40)I've visited this thread several times and it's interesting that it is still fairly active. I'm looking at the Cristadur waterfall 150 in Bronze. Wayfair carried them a few months ago with good prices but when I checked last night, there were no Schock or Houzer sinks listed on their site. I have found a supplier from Germany on eBay, his listings are rather obscure and you have to dig deep to find them. He carries the entire line including vintage models and colors; GREAT prices with a flat $145 shipping. I currently have a Swanstone in black that drove me crazy when it was new with water marks and looking dry, until I wiped it down with coconut oil a couple of years ago and I've not touched it again. It now wipes down and is cleaned continually from just washing dishes and looks brand new. I'm looking at Schock over Blanco for my remodel in a different house due to the unique look of the waterfall, but I'm worried that it might suffer from being less than utilitarian. They have a matching 15" prep sink which I plan to install as well. Anyone have any real experience with the waterfall design or Schock for that matter?...See Morefor those of you with a Blanco Silgranite Anthracite Sink
Comments (9)Thanks everyone! Here is the granite color I have I have already ordered the black Silgranite Sink so at this point I can't go with the Blanco brown, but I will be going to Home Depot to look at their brand tomorrow. The tough part is going to be matching the sink, the faucet and the tough one is the Sinkerator Hot water dispenser. Getting all those blacks to work is going to be huge. I like the ORB in Moen but it is very brown and the hot water dispenser is not even close. The only other option is to change everything to Matte black but the sink seems to have a little more charcoal so even that is not going to be a hit. Maybe I should go with stainless on the faucet ect but it is the only stainless in the kitchen and I have ORB hardware (a dark ORB instead of an brown ORB). I am driving everyone crazy here at the homefront as I have ordered 3 faucets so far and I have to have this done for the granite templete next week...thanks for the help!...See MoreBlanco Silgranit sink 'need' a sink grid?
Comments (14)Thanks to all who have replied so far & those upcoming. Amazing & I really do appreciate it - chris45ny, websitegirl, breezygirl, mabeldingeldine, a2gemini & cindyof4kids. Chris45ny, all you can do is give me your opinion and I appreciate you taking the time to reply. Westiegirl, glad to hear you have not felt the need to get a sink grid after 4 months. I must say that I am a little suspicious of the HD sink. We hear that often, about items not being the same from super stores - usually faucets & such. Breezygirl, odd how we feel like we know you because we have heard & seen so much from you. I am especially glad you replied because I know you have the same metallic grey color as I do and I knew you didn't start out with a sink grid. I suspect I will hate them too, as I didn't care for them the few times that I washed at other people's sinks with grids & have hated things getting trapped under there & things not able to stand in the sink, etc. Mabeldingeldine, glad to hear you have put that sink through a lot & super hot water to boot. Awesome news! Maybe the problem is in extremely cold areas? I am a little envious of the thought of your garden & even more envious of your chilies! Spicy, my favorite. I have a small outdoor deck where I grow flowers. Nowhere for veggies & such, but I still love tinkering in my little garden. A2gemimi, I haven't forgotten you & I have been lurking late at night. I replied to your PMs so I hope you got my replies. My faucet is centered. You can PM me to see how I like it centered, as things will be too crazy for me to check GW daily. After I move back, I will have to furnish most of my place and I have a 3 year old keeping me very busy. Try me after the weekend - maybe next Tues and check if I have any thoughts on it. If you need an answer sooner, email away & I'll let you know. I expect chaos when I first move back because work is not completely done, but my husband is determined to go home. Cindyof4kids, I too feel like the disposal & the grid combo will be an issue. Glad again to hear about the hot water stories. So, my plan is to skip the sink grid and ride this pony bareback. If I find I need a saddle, I'll deal with it then. Again, much thanks. Jamrock...See MoreCleaning my Blanco Silgranit sink
Comments (15)Blanco sells a Siligranit sink cleaner. You can order on line (Google it) or check with your local plumbing supply store. I've had my Blanco Siligranit sink now for two years and only use my dish cloth to wipe it dry when I am finished with my dishes. I have never used a cleaner or wool pad on it. I will use the Blanco Siligranit cleaner on it to see if it makes a difference in its appearance. It looks just fine, but this cleaner is supposed to make it look like new again....See MoreRenoGirl
