Got 'em all so far but C3, D2&3...

I have two answers for C1, and both of them are probably wrong. It's the wrong letter for the first answer that comes to mind.

Not getting D3, either, even with the hint.

Maybe more coffee will help.

I agree, D2 is very clever. It takes a little different approach to get D3 if that is any help. I dont know how to give another clue without totally giving it away. Blfenton, proper noun.

Well, I give up on D3. I hoped looking at it fresh this moring would makke it pop out at me, as often happens with the harder ones. Not happening for me this time. But I'm pretty sure I have the rest of them, though.

Re C1 - bpath - maybe slightly? Depends on how sloppy your speech is when saying the first word. (at least if my answer is correct) It's inundating my news right now.

Jasdip, I was taught a lot of stuff in school! But have you any idea how long ago that was? LOL!

Rusty, you have to add another word at the end that relates to the position of the letters. That is as close as i think i can get to giving another clue.

C2 clue:

Oh. If that's it (student protestors, tank man), then I'm kind of disappointed. I guess it works, though.

Rusty, say each letter out loud. Then say them again, a little bit faster this time. Then, think of the shape they are in.

I think I got D3. Finally! The last hint gave it to me.

I had cease-fire for C1 and I like that better than forest fire. I did not get the last one. BUT I would have gotten it if I had read the last clues. I didn't and hadn't been here for many hours.

I had detached retina wrong -- sorta close, but wrong

I was otherwise engaged for the long weekend so didn't have a chance to look at this until the morning....got everything pretty quickly except, believe it or not C3. I resisted scrolling down to the answers until I was reasonably satisfied I wasn't going to get it....and then of course laughed at how easy it was. You'd think after doing enough of these, we couldn't be stumped anymore. Thanks Jasdip!

My first and almost immediate reaction for C3 was 'cease fire'. But that should have been C's, not S's. 'Sizzling fire'' was my second guess. Finally sometime yesterday afternoon, I got 'Forest fire'. And wondered how I could be so dense for so long.

And for D3, even with the hints, no way I ever could have gotten that. Knowing what it is, it's a very good (clever) depiction, but it's just not something that would ever come to my mind. It might have helped if I knew how to pronounce it or spell it, but I doubt it.

I did get the rest of them right, so there is that.
