Paint Design Dilemma Kitchens

Votes/ Advice on island color and backsplash color

Looking for advice on picking the right island cabinet color. We are modifying the existing kitchen of the house we are moving into. We tried SW Indigo (see pic) on the island and went so wrong. It turned out to look like a royal blue/ purplish tone blue as you can see.

We are not changing the existing white cabinets and are going to add a butcher block dining extension to the quartz (Carrara Quartz) countertop on the island.

Here are the three shades I am now considering for the island: SW Gale Force (seems to have more grey tones) and SW Naval (navy blue undertone). Screenshots attached.

I started out with thinking of crisp white textured backsplash tiles with a blue island. Now I am scared of making the wrong choice. So please help with your thoughts and advice!!!

My questions are:

1. Would Gale Force work better if I were to play with the colors around the island like choose a light sea green color backsplash? (I love to infuse light aquas, burnt orange,

2. Does choosing a navy blue island color restrict you to a crisp white tile backsplash? Does nothing else go in terms of complementary colors for a backsplash that goes with a navy blue island and white cabinets?

If you want to do aquas and orange accents, I think the Naval would work best. I don’t think you’re restricted to crisp white on the backsplash at all. In fact that could be a good place for you incorporate the aqua/blues combo. But I agree you can play with that last. The Gale Force is very pretty but it strikes me as more organic and earthy, maybe best with the burnt orange and teal instead of aqua? It’s pretty but more subdued. Given your first choice, it sounds like you enjoy having fun with color. Try not to let one ”miss” scare you. The SW Naval and BM Hale Navy are a hit because they work with a variety of decor.

Of the two new paint options I’d go with gale force. Love the green tones.
Naval is nice too.
I happen to not HATE the current color. It’s kinda cool. But yes very very bold...
anyways... backsplash....
I would strongly recommend waiting until the entire kitchen is complete to begin planning any backsplash.
If
You have to decide now if continue the countertops upward. Or go with an organic looking textured detailed tile. As opposed to bringing in more color.

Sully, I'm pretty sure it's tumbled noce. There are other names for the same stone, so I can find them out for you if you like. It just looks a lot different with the light grout. It is hard to picture which is why I sent the pic to xoxosmom. I don't think it would look right in her kitchen. Darker grout would look better with the darker cabinets IMO! I don't know the name of the grout color but it is almost white and changes the look completely. But thanks for the compliment!

First thing to do is make sure you have the optimal efficient layout. Even if you think you do, I'd strongly recommend posting it here. The folks on here saved me from a huge mistake, had I gone with the design of the "highly recommended genius architect" that I'd hired to design my kitchen.

I think it can be done. There are products that can paint over plastic so I am sure it can be done. You may want to investigate the process first. Painting cabinets is time consuming and you would hate for all your hard work to peel or fall apart or pill like a sweater. So find the best products and find the process so you will be pleased with your results. And talk the folks at Benjamin Moore where you want to buy your paint. They will know and have products to help you. Your countertop is beigy-beige. Be sure that your walls would not clash with it. May be to go with off-white color?

Personally I like Naval, but Gale Force is great too. I think both of those colors would work well with green.

I have these tiles in my kitchen. I think this green would work with whichever color you choose.
