Help penny tile issue!
Comments (17)Yes, staggering the sheets, but there's actually more to it than that (how you trowel the thinset, etc. and control your grout joints). Sometimes even pulling the pennies off and hand setting at the sheet perimeters . Techniques that an experienced professional understands. We don't know the material and how it was mounted so without all the information........See MorePenny tiles - grid lines and not straight
Comments (13)I see you are looking for a response tonight. It‘s a good thing you noticed this now and are willing to take action. I am not a pro but I will tell you that if you aren’t happy now, you won’t be happy later. Cut your losses. Don’t throw good money after bad. Rip it out. Then do a search on this site for penny tiles or penny rounds and see how many unhappy people are out there as a result of a poor installation. Either get an expert in or change to a more forgiving material. And no. From what I’ve seen on this site, grout will not cover the sins of a bad install. Sorry if I sound harsh. Wishing you the best of luck....See MoreHelp! Penny tile lines
Comments (0)My contractor laid my penny tiles yesterday (not grouted yet) and I can see so many lines/grid marks. Do I have him rip it up and start over with another material? I’ve read that this is much harder once it is grouted. Not sure grout will fix this:(((...See Morehow are these lines in penny tile installation?
Comments (6)Hi friends, believe me I read the horror stories about penny tile before going forth with the purchase… and spoke with our contractor and the tile lead to express concern in advance. I felt confident we were on same page. They did a good job with the shower floor which was done with the penny tile s couple weeks ago so I felt settled. Then after a busy day running around with our kids yesterday came home to see the installation of the full floor wasn’t quite as perfect 😕 I’m definitely going to go with a darker grout to match it, but should I bring it up to the GC and see what he thinks before we grout? They obviously didn’t stagger the sheets. It appears they worked very carefully which I respect and appreciate but I’m seeing grid lines…....See MoreHALLETT & Co.
