Comments (55)One dog dies last year and I believe the other did this year. Maybe she just got tired of them and gave them up. It has been quite quiet around here, neighbors have commented on it. As for moving should she replace them, I inherited the house I grew up in. My mother designed it, my father built it. There are over 400 specific plants in the gardens and there is just too much sentimentality involved, not to mention that I am a bit old to be relocating. For now, her hedges have thickened and grown tall enough that all anyone sees is a nice green backdrop for my gardens. You would not even know there was a house in there. It is very unfortunate because the house has an excellent picture window that used to overlook the valley. Last summer, in the only patch of sun filled area in her yard, she had a lawn chair out and was sunning herself. I could only see her through a bathroom window and she looked like the proverbial beached whale. I pulled the curtains to stop from laughing. The dogs are just a memory now.......See MoreHow long to keep a spayed (stray) cat indoors?
Comments (13)my cat (dead now) had gone through, being a stray in the middle of winter and then went to the shelter and we got him and he was not neutered so we had to do that and then he was a happy cat until our cat wanted to get out of the house more due to construction and redoing our basement after a flood and his leg got stuck in a fox trap, so he got that amputated and he has had a brother all of the time he has been here as we took in stray kittens but sadly one of them died cause of a head injury. her name was luna but then my other cat who was siblings to luna named Leo had been here for 7 years but he had passed away due to kidney failure and the three-legged cat had died 8 months after the amputation he was hit by a car and after Leo had died we found two older stray kittens who had no microchip and was unspayed and luckily we got them before there first heat. so we had taken them in and their new names are, Baby and Thumbs. baby being a smaller and most likely the runt or the other cat hogged all the food, but they had been underfed but in really good shape for a stray living in an old den of any other animal, no other cats were found and they seemed to have no other family and snow was approaching soon and they had no chip so we kept them. there spaying will be in a few days and they will be maybe able to go back outside as they were strays and now I think once I have a home of my own I think I know what my job will be, most likely a vet or a cat foster. thank you for reading, have a good day....See MoreHave you had a cat just vanish?
Comments (143)I felt so sad reading these heartbreaking posts. I am crying. Our beautiful semi feral cat disappeared about 2 months ago, She " adopted " us 18 months ago when we saw her catching and eating rats in our garden . she came from nowhere and has gone , I posted on social media and in the local paper , and got a reply from someone about a mile away , that she has been seen in gardens over there. She is very nervous , though she let my partner stroke her when she was here. She seems quite young though fully grown and she had a luxury pad here in the conservatory , with several cat beds and a duvet and plenty of food my partner bought her . She seemed to trust us though seemingly petrified a lot of the time. Its such a worry about what will happen to her. Maybe a dog or badger chased her. We always had indoor cats before , only let out under guard! I am a widow and found this man who also loves animals and wildlife. We were happy, We cant get another cat due to our age and the thought that somehow she might return. I am praying and hoping....See Morehow to stop neighbours cat entering cat flap
Comments (11)4 indoor/outdoor cats in this house. The only place food is available is INSIDE. And a human has to open the door to access it. I know it's not going to make your lives easier, but I'd keep the flap "buttoned up" when you're not there to monitor who is "chowing down". I've read some pretty funny stories about wildlife that has shown up a the feed trough at odd hours. My own experience has been that they've brought in live prey items... lol, I found a fully viable Chippie on a pile of laundry some weeks ago, have also dealt with a Blue Jay, a snake, and a vole. Took me 2 hrs. to convince Chippie to go back outdoors. We feed in the morning, and let them out if they want to go out. When I get home about 2PM they have the option of another snack but rarely avail themselves of it. By 5-7PM they're hungry. When they come in for dinner, they're in for the night. Generally speaking, you can predict their return. Cats are smart and you can train them. The only thing that is sort of tough here is the changing the clocks... but within a day, they're on to the next schedule. I don't mind being a "doorman". In the long term, it's just easier....See Moremaifleur03
