My husband, a mechanical engineer, suggests the following: You can try turning on the fan and pushing it with a stick to start. Second you can take an indoor fan and put it on top of the condenser and use that to help cool the unit. Be careful. Keep your fingers away from the fan. If you would like technical explanations, my husband will be happy to provide them.

Hope your AC will be back to normal tomorrow. It’s a heatwave here too. One of our two AC units went, so the whole house is cooling by one unit, we don’t want to overload it. There is a long waiting line for AC installation, it has been a month long waiting already, hopefully they will bring a new unit over next week as scheduled. I got poison ivy rash all over from gardening, the heat is not making it better.

Kath....Fan motors, capacitor....AC units are needy! Keeping the furnace filter changed every 30 days will help tho.

My heat pump is working again. Nicole, the company that sold it to me told me to change it every 6 months. I don't always do that, but now that I'm back on their twice a year maintenance program it'll be done.

This is the answer that comes up....and ....THIS is what I tell my tenants. I've been doing THIS for awhile now. I own 2 houses w/ AC.

summer.....:0) As long as it's not a long haired one that sheds a lot & doesn't get brushed! ♥ Also....buy the really cheap furnace filters. They let more air through, it's easier on the fan motor. It doesn't have to work as hard. I pay $1.25 ea @ Home Depot.
