Door style needs to match the style of the exterior. Can you provide a photo of the house so it'll be easier to advise you?

It will have more impact if the trim around the glass matches the door color and the frame around the entire thing is white, or your lightest trim color. We need to see the entire front of the house to determine what you should do.

With the neutral taupe color of your home, the door can be almost any color you like. Black or white if you want to stay nuetral, but you could also use any shade of red, medium to dark green, medium blue to navy, eggplant, etc. I don't see any color inside either. This is an opportunity to give your house some life and character. I see even your cars are black and white!

From the close up I really like the door color with your siding. Have you considered staying with that hue/chroma and just making the wood a bit lighter/darker than the door?

I’m quite open to ideas. The steps need a coat, so I figured I would paint the wood trim the same repose grey to match. I plan to do the steps first, then see how it looks.

I think Repose is too green.with your stone.

how about more contrast? Iron Ore

I'd also paint your steps a diff color. maybe do the risers the contrast color.

A dark color will make the metal in the door glass POP. I have seen a dark brown and red and it really shows off the glass. In your deep entrance you might need to go BRIGHT. Are you brave enough for a yellow?

Well, THANKS soooo much for everyone's awesome help. I really mean it. I really like Iron ore, its one I have picked for a tv room in my basement, among others to think about. I like the white around it, I am thinking Super white border, iron ore like you have and cool beige or touch of sand for the stairs and railing. The Repose Gray does look too green. I have it on my walls in my house and really like it. The Iron Ore also makes the hardware on the door pop I feel. I also may do a light white wash stencil foundhere. - on the stairs.

For the door I would do one of these colors

For the steps I would do the landing and treads in the darker color and the risers in the lighter

Thanks for the advise Lisa. I also saw SW Evergreen Fog for the door. My question is, for the wood border around my door, would you do it in the lighter modern gray as you noted for the risers, or a bright white. If white, which one would you suggest? Many thanks for your assistance.

Whatever you do, do NOT paint the trim around the windows white. It is not intended to be highlighted. It should be the same color as your door.
