Wish me luck, you guys !

Going in tomorrow morning for my bypass surgery, have to be there at 5 a.m. ! its a 20 mile drive from here. ive been eating jello and broth for two days, sure could use a hamburger right now .

will report in when i can.

I've taken the Den keiki out of the baggie, placed it into a small clay pot with some bark, and left a couple of strands of moss loosely bunched at the root area... I've got the clay pot set in a clay saucer, and under that is a plastic saucer with a little water in it. The whole thing is sitting on a heating pad under grow lights. I hope this covers the light, warmth, and a bit of humidity. I'll watch it closely, and add water as needed. I really wish our greenhouse was up and operational right now... it will be a while before growth appears on the Coelogyne without that advantage! Everyone is seeing new growth on theirs already... everyone except me! The pbulb is quite wrinkled, but it's still green and the leaves are both still hanging in there! No sign of new growth yet, but I don't have the advantage that a greenhouse gives. I must say... this is all so exciting and suspenseful! Regardless of the outcome, I look at this as a wonderful opportunity to learn, and to hone my skill at growing! Now I'm wondering if I should do anything different with the Coelogyne? Should I move it into more light? Dare I put it into a clay pot with bark? Or am I just freaking out?!

Thank you Denise and GG! :-). It's been a long day here. Dad's up at the hospital for overnight observation. They're not sure what's going on, but he seems okay. His kidneys are a little "depressed" as the ER doctor told us, and he's a little dehydrated (but his electrolytes came back fine). He has a stress test tomorrow morning. He's supposed to get out tomorrow afternoon I think. It could also be side effects from some of the medicines he takes (allergy, blood pressure). We don't know for sure, though. Most people have been saying that getting those rejections when you're first starting out are disheartening and that couldn't be any more true. It's hard to smile in the face of adversity. I've been doing it for almost 10 years. Someone on the Cooking forum said I have a good friend to tell me the news. He is my best friend in the entire world (GG, remember I told you about Shaun? That's whom I'm speaking of). These past 7 years, he's been a bright spot in my life for sure. He's like my own brother. He was also born with the most outrageously wild sense of humor lol. I've planted sweet bells, bannana, anaheim, and ornamental pepper plants this year. As far as starting from seeds, I'm trying my luck at Thai Peppers. I didn't buy the seeds, but got them from a pepper plant. In the first 10-14 days, I already have a few seedlings that I've needed to transplant from my mini hothouse. It should be interesting to see how many more seedlings start growing! Good Luck Jollygreenpimp!

Cathy, I'm only sorta sorry this company didn't make an offer. They sound dysfunctional. There's a disconnect happening somewhere in the chain of command & the decision process is suffering. Not sure that's a positive environment to land yourself. Chaos & dysfunction usually start at the top & work their way down to the bottom. The perfect opportunity will present itself probably when & where you least expect it to appear. But, it will happen. /tricia

Wishing you a smooth recovery! Of course the surgery will cause fatigue and discomfort, for which you'll be given meds to help, but soon you'll turn the corner on the post surgery symptoms, and start getting your strength back. Get back to us after you've been home and are feeling better!

Good luck from me too, got 2 older brothers (around 80 yo) that got triple BPs a few years ago and they enjoy their burgers today. Treat yourself to one of those fancy pants high class restaurant hamburgers when you're released. A big mac won't due for you! (probably what got my brothers into trouble to begin with ;-)
